 Have you guys saw the warning about the worm attacking windows operating systems on your computer, it is supposed to send all your personal info to the hacker. the news stations have stated it has been embedded for months and will release itself today, hope this is an April Fools joke, i do a lot of work on the pc and have run new microsoft worm tool, if anyone is interested in running it just go to Microsoft.com, they say if you can't get on , it means that your machine is affected.. have seen this on local and national news, supposed to affect over 12 millions computers :omg:

i ran the repair and detection download from Microsoft and it took me about 2 or 3 hours, and did'n detect anything. thank god... Microsoft is offering a huge reward for info leading to arrest of this person..

Jerrell and T-Mo is there a way to tell if the "worm" is in there?

Last night on here I opened a thread and I had a sign flash across screen and a siren went off inside the laptop, I hit delete before I did anything else. It said it wouldn't go any further. Red Square have a firewall that did that?

Haven't had any problems this am.

Perry, you have the problems that are supposed to be the telltale sign of the Conficker worm. It blocks all anti-virus updates and websites, and will not allow you to start your PC in safe mode.

If you have another PC (or can get someone to do it for you), you can load the patch onto your PC via CD. Symantec has a removal tool, or you can use the Windows Malicious Software removal tool. Both should be very easy to find on the Web. Just copy it to a CD and load it to yours.

Good luck!

Kevin

I'm not sure how you are trying to "format" with your XP disk, but don't try to load it from within Windows.

Put the XP Disk in your pc rom drive, shut the drive and shut off the pc.

Hit the power to turn on the pc with the disk already in the rom... When you see the words"press any key to boot to cd rom" then tap a key on your keyboard.

Follow the instructions from there.

Do a fresh format by booting from the disk itself. You'll lose everything back to default but you will be clean again.

Even though you log in as an Admin with the account you have, it has limits. This is something Vista did to protect you from yourself. In other words, you don't have full administrator priveleges.

You can log on as a full admin a few different ways. One way is to simply unhide the true admin logon in a cmd.

click the start menu.

In the bottom search bar type cmd (don't hit enter)

cmd will show in the list on top .. right click on it and click to run as administrator

the command panel will open

type this command exactly as it appears here.. or just copy and paste it in the cmd panel

net user administrator /active:yes

hit enter and it should tell you it completed successfully.

close the cmd panel and log off of windows.

When you log back on you should have a new Admin log on.

Log on as admin and try to run your program that way.

It might be a good idea to keep your regular user logon and use that for normal functioning.

You might also want to create a password for the admin logon and only use that for technical purposes.

Also, when you do log on as Full Admin, it will be like the very first time you ever logged onto your computer. You will have to set up the profile, desktop, settings and all that good stuff. It is just a separate account and it has it's own settings. You may also have to approve firewall settings to get online, etc.. All of your programs will still be in the program list. All of your pictures, music, documents etc. will be under your other account profile, but you can access them as admin. So don't panic if you log on as admin and you can't find your documents et
