315-8 PTO

Recommended Posts

I bought a 315-8 last June and the PTO had been recently replaced.  I was given the old PTO with the purchase as well.  I have had the tractor in storage at a friends.  He went to take of the deck and noticed no quick connection on the new PTO wiring.  Any suggestions on how to address the issue?

It would be easy enough to cut the wires and add "bullet" or "spade" crimp on or solder terminals to allow for a disconnection point, I would probably locate this near the drive belt guard so the rest of the harness is attached securely.

Can you take the center bolt out and slide the PTO off the shaft and remove the belt?

One of these polarized connectors would work.

Install it so the hot wire from the switch is connected the the insulated female side. No chance of a short when disconnected.

There are lighter ones but this one has 10ga wires.

I'm curious what the amp draw of one of those PTO is. I know electromagnetic clutches on auto AC is close to 20 amps and the PTO  on my 210H was around 15. You need a good secure connection to avoid overheating
