CT Meet and Greet!

Recommended Posts

Guest fireman

Well we had are get together today and i'd say it went great. Everyone checked out other guys tractors and did a little horse trading here and there. We worked on a few of the guys tractors (mine included Thanks Chris!). Did some welding and generally hung around, ate, and talked horses. Chris from Milford took pictures and I hope posts them when he gets a chance. I think we had 9 members show up. All those who attended chime in and let em know what you thought.

I know I had a good time! A big thanks to Saltywright for the hat and Redsquare Sticker and to Wallfish for the "original" leather shifter boot, you guys are awsome. Thanks also to all those who came, brought food and those who donated the money (You didn't have to do that :omg: ) and made it a great success.

Now, who's hosting the next one and when!!!

Fireman,

You are a good man for having the meet and greet at your house today. I speak for Tim Bo, Uncle Bo and myself-we had a great time. You have an awesome shop and it was real good to meet the other guys. Thanks for hosting. After we left your house Uncle Bo and I went down to NJ to pick up my new 520 HC. It is a great tractor and just got back about 9pm-long day. You should have seen the number of tractor the guy I picked it up from had..... Case and Bolens EVERYWHERE !! He must have had over 100 tractors in his yard. Great guy. Thanks again !!!

Jeff, it was great to meet you, your wife and kids, and everyone else. I would like to thank you for welding my deck up and I know you liked to do it for the practice and its good to know that just a little of my magic touch the C-81 didnt have a thrown rod after all and to "Bill" for checking if it still had compression. I would also like to thank Richard(iicap) for helping me and Chris(Coadster32) when the brakes went on Chris' truck, and "Bill" for helping on the way their when we had trouble. I would also like to thank Richard(iicap) for helping me figure out the charging problem on my C-125. And congratulations to Saltywright on his new 551 from Chris(Coadster32). And it was great to see John's(Wallfish) RJ with the sicklebar attachment and rear plow. And thank you Steve(stevebo) from bringing donuts and coffee, and also showing off your C-175, also congratulations on getting the trailer fro Chris(Coadster32). All in all the meet and great was a great success and would love to go to many more to come. :omg:

Wayne, "Bill" was talking about hosting and having a pull at his house so maybe you guys should hook up and see. I know "Bill" wants to see what the C-175 can do with the new tires on it and now that he got a deck from Steve(stevebo) maybe the front wheels will stay on the ground.

Jeff, thank you for hosting the 1st annual Ct meet and great...I hope there will more to follow. Myself I had a great time meeting all of you and just hanging around throwing the B/S about tractors... Of course when I got home I got a little razzing from My girlfriend, Asking how our play date went  .

I do have to say I never thought a wheelhorse could fly, Never mind 2 of them at the same time.... But Coadster32 I have to :omg: to you.. you did a great job in proving me wrong on that... Now from One pilot to another I have to say you better practice some touch and go's casue that landing was a little hard.. LOL

As far as doing a Pull and get together here, it's no problem, you guys come up with a date that you think might work out for eveyone and I'm game for it. It just can't be July 11th... Hmmmmm seems that I'm getting married that day.. But heck I guess we could do it in the morning LOL....

Fireman & Family, thank you for your hospitality and a great time yesterday. Nice shop Jeff, plenty of stuff to work with and real neat. To those who didn't attend, we had a gentleman who was 80 yrs old come and he bought (not brought) a tractor, he use to sell WH's years ago. We also had a gentleman come who is 15 yrs old and really into Horses. It was a lot of fun watching guys help out someone else with a problem, Lot of grins and smiles. There was pretty much a concensus that at future meets we will have name tags (at least this tired old mind needs them) and it will help us get on the right bus when it's time to leave :omg: It was nice to meet you all

Alrighty guys, here my little story from Sunday. I realized that I didn't take alot of pics, but some is better than nothing.

[DSCF0103.jpg

Awesome little guy isn't it!! Sounds good too.

DSCF0102.jpg

Awesome one that never made it out of his stall.

DSCF0104.jpg

Anybody wanna buy something??

DSCF0105.jpg

What's everybody looking at?

DSCF0106.jpg

This is how RS members fix things.

DSCF0107.jpg

Chris's ball hitch to the rescue!

DSCF0100.jpg

My daughter missed me at home. (like the sweatshirt?)

Picture002.jpg

Hard to see, but my truck made it home after I did! HUH??

DSCF0108.jpg

How much is a new brake booster anyhow??

DSCF0109.jpg

This is my favorite. Through an interesting day, it's all how you look at it.

For those that didn't here, I blew my brakes going up to the meet and greet. On rt.7, less than 1 mile to the rt.37 junction. Chris was in my truck, and Bill was following. He had the best seat in the house. I swerved around a car, over the yellows, and into a dirt area next to the road. I came off the road doing about 25. The tractors, and trailer, did about 3ft. Never seen a horse fly?? Anyway, Bill took the trailer to Jeff's house, and I limped behind. Jeff said he used to be a mechanic, and we'd take a look at it. Well, he was well stocked at his house to fix anything! I gotta say, we got some good guys up here. Everyone fixed everyone elses stuff. We were going to bring our pride tractors, but instead brought our tired, poor.. read the statue of liberty and you'll get the rest. Great conversations, and learning to be had. We were cracking each other up. Richard, (IICAP) was nice enough to offer to take my trailer back for me, and ease my mind on the brakes. On the way to Chris's house, my brakes smoked the cab of the truck, I almost lost a windsheild wiper blade, and my cassette tape got eaten and stuck in my player! We made it to Chris's house, and I parked the trailer, and tractor there for the night, called AAA for a tow, and richard brought me home. We had a great conversation on the way. I showed him my basement machine shop, and took him to my work to see my 551 restore job. Chinese for dinner, and that was truely the fortune cookie. As for my brakes..This is true, pics to come

The brake pad literally fell right out of the caliper, and off the truck!! Seeing is beleiving. The rivets that hold the clips on, broke off. I put these pads on Saturday, the day before the meet. I've done 50+ brake jobs in my life and never seen this. That's why the pedal went to the floor, and then came back. What an awefull sound!

Thanks Jeff for putting this thing together (and the duct tape). Chris, I hope you enjoyed the adventure (at my expense). Richard, thanks again fot the ride. I hope you enjoy retirement. Bill, I'd like to see that thing pull (with ear plugs). Steve,Uncle,Tim, great meeting you. Glad to see your trip lasted longer than mine. Saltywright, I'll see you this week. (you might have forgoten more than I'll know). Russ, it was great to meet you. John, your outlook is on target, if it's perfect, I don't want it. (That is untill you restore your RJ.)

BTW-Jeff I counted 11. :omg:

Chris (Coadster32),

I was going to suggest that we pull the wheels and take a peek. When you said the brakes came back and no fluid was leaking, in my head I quickly ruled out anything down below. That's what lead me to the vacuum (should always go with your first instinct). I guess the same thing was true on the C-81 :omg: Ha Ha, again thanks Chris (WHC-125). I'm glad everyone had a good time. I also am looking forward to the next gathering. Gonna buy all the tune-up parts and carb rebuild kit for the D200 and let WHC-125 loose on it to work his magic  . Then we can have a tractor pull and see who's king of the dirt  . Now I just have to find a trailer!

Jeff, when you get the parts for the D-200 I would be more than happy to fix it for you. At least the D-200 was running when I started with it. :omg:

next time you guys get together give Kathy and I a heads up and we will see if we can make it down. Sounds like everyone had a great time regardless of the "flying"....

We would have to put the ranger back in the honda and bring it down. Let us know

I wouldn't rule against hosting the next get together. I have three weekends open in May. This way, it won't be my horses a flying.

Name tags might be corney, but not really a bad idea.

BTW- New brake booster..$68. New brake rotor...$54. New Brake pads..$54

Having a laugh w/ RS guys...Priceless!

I brought the pads back to Autozone, and told them they owe me a new rotor. After some red-faced persuasion, they gave me one!! I bought the matching one, and told them to shove the pads where... I bought good pads from a local joint. I'll put them on Wed. night. I had to p/u the tractor and trailer from Chris so Russ could get it from me at home. Tomorrow night is the wife's Birthday. :omg:

Jeff, how did that rim come out? You can leave it in the tank for a couple/few days with the power off, and it won't rust. You just have to do something to it right when you get it out of the tank. I wash mine, blow it dry with air, and prime it, all within two minutes. It will flash rust before your eyes!

Chris,

I have been at work since yesterday morning. I pulled it out Sunday night and scraped off the loose paint and rust then put it back in . Was looking good so far. Hopefully when I get home this afternoon it will be nice and clean. I have to stop and get some more primer. I will post pictures after I pull it out.
