gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,491 #1 Posted February 16, 2019 I am wondering what the original engine spec number was. The info available suggests the 701 and 702 used the same engine but that can't be correct. The 701 uses 2 drive belts for the starter/generator and the 702 uses 1 belt. stevasaurus 23,281 #5 Posted February 16, 2019 I think we have a can of worms here Garry...my 702, which I think is original, has a spec # 28626E. My dad owned this horse since the late 1960's.
kasey54 305 #6 Posted February 16, 2019 I've read the 701's engine is the only one that has no compression relief, and thus the need for two belts. I'love to know if that is correct..
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #7 Posted February 16, 2019 @kasey54 ~ The ACR came out in late '64. Prior to that, the two-piece (spark retarding) camshaft was used. This Kohler engine manual came with the second 701 I had: 1
