bc.gold 3,399 #51 Posted January 22, 2019 Protect your carburetor from corrosion by Plating it with Cadmium Dichromate, from the electromotive series of metals you'll see that cadmium falls below zinc, zinc being the primary base metal will be protected by the plating overlay. It did not go without notice that the fellow in the video was handling parts being removed from the sodium dichromate dip with bare hands. as for the cadmium this was substituted with zinc which is also toxic especially in the form of its salts. For those that would like to plate a carburetor or other parts disposing of spent solutions should first neutralize the metal salts by raising the ph, As an alternative I use pieces of scrap iron with an aquarium bubbler to keep things moving in the liquid. After about a week the ions from the iron have exchanged themselves for those above iron ( Electromotive Series of Metals ) rendering the liquid safe for disposal. http://goldrefiningforum.com/ It's actually a requirement by law that hazardous chemicals and materials when sold be accompanied with the MSDS sheet. http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ Edited January 23, 2019 by bcgold
