WHGuy413 2,452 #1 Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) After spending the day playing in our Volvo mini loader and excavator at work I decided I better flatten out some ruts in the mud at home before the ground freezes and I have to plow over them all winter. The 753 had no problems even with the bigger ones. If we could just get some cold weather to freeze everything up or if it could stop raining up here we would be good. I can't even get out to my fire wood pile with any of my tractors cause it's so muddy. My son's and their trusty red wagon have been handling the firewood detail the last few weeks. Sparky-(Admin) 19,286 #2 Posted January 3, 2019 Yep, usually we have nice frozen ground here by now, but went for a ride in the woods on my 656 this past weekend and it was soft and muddy all over. Made for a difficult ride.

When the snow does hit I spend about a day plowing out work with 4 other guys. Its probably why I'm not in a hurry.

pfrederi 17,040 #9 Posted January 5, 2019 Another 3/4" of rain last night. Just in time and a darn good thing, the puddles in the yard had just about disappeared...even some of the ruts had only a little water left in them. 1

Can't have you guys that have been inundated with rain just drying up on us. Nasty rumor going around up here in Maine and Northern New Hampshire that we could get hit pretty hard with snow on Tuesday and Wednesday coming up
Tractorhead 8,526 #11 Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) Was a bit outside, playing with my Horse.... Height is about 1,20m at highest Point.. First issue i learned, only straight Plow isn't very seneful... so i dismounted it and just use the FEL. At beginning heavy wet snow.. all worked without chains, but i need extreme more weight on rear Axle. it doesn't really matters, if FEL was fully loaded or empty, grip was nearly same. That's the one I look at daily. Notice how the winter weather forecast doesn't include Wednesday? The local news is saying we could get another storm forming just behind the first......... Woohoo. I have followed NOAA local forecast for years and found them to be far superior to any other weather info source. Hourly updates with current local conditions, and forecasts that a generally spot on or not far off. I generally watch it off and on throughout the day and even the night if I happen to be up for some reason. You'll have an update probably this evening and no later than tomorrow morning which will include Wednesday. All we have had here is two very light dustings of snow in late November. Current temp here 50 degrees and fair skies. No complaints from me https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Gas+City&state=IN&site=IWX&lat=40.4892&lon=-85.6077#.XDEh52l7nVh

The Tuul Crib 7,331 #23 Posted January 5, 2019 60° for both Saturday and Sunday here and instead of cleaning my driveway with a blade I'm cleaning it with the pressure washer !! Go figure. Maybe it's just as well because a couple inches here in Nashville can shut the whole city down ! Lol
Tractorhead 8,526 #24 Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) And it snows snows snows... continousely. Wet heavy Snow. Storage capacity drops.... Fun with heavy Wet Snow.. Grip looses, no weight available so i have to use Chains... but they from an Mercedes Light truck an won't fit. have to improvise them to fit... It looks they work, use the FEL to store a bit wet Snow in the Garden for later sledge riding..😂 Space is cleaned, all snow was as good as possible out of the way and one Gallon of fuel was dumped. The both Lift cylinders down was very slow, so work with empty FEL take its time. Lifting is more as tripple speed, usefull to work. maybe this was indebted by Bio- Oil for the FEL, beased upon its viscosity. but it does it's work. trying several tests today while working, the best fuel Engine economy was at 2600 rpm. wet snow is damn heavy, but my FEL was stronger even if it's made of Aluminum..(proud about) chains are required, but they have to Fit... Otherwise you loosing them in worsest situation.... rear weight make absolutely sense, actual i mounted today a old defect Car Battery on the back with about 17 Kilos.. more weight needed urgently...think it must be at least 40-50 Kilos i need on back. but it works, even not everything was perfect - it slips sometimes, but get mostly enough grip to move itself. The Belts keep going and shall be perfect after changing. No slip in the Drivetrain itself. after finalize, i found - no Power at all, the complete valley without Power... no coffe now - aaaaaarrrgggghhh..
