thoughts on this Briggs 16 miss?  Ignition or fuel?

the plugs are super wet and dark after maybe 15 minutes of run time.  The Amazon carb naturally has zero adjustment.  The fuel pump was leaking and missing some spring components.  I ordered a carb rebuild kit, a replacement fuel pump and have the original one in my Berryman carb dip.  Time to rebuild the original!

First real rides happened!  Wiring is roughed in too!  I’m fighting fuel issues, so no more test runs until the big show.  I rebuilt the original carb, but the fuel adjustment screws were a different thread pitch and it instantly stripped out the pot metal body.  Thanks @TonyToro Jr. and @Sparky in advance for the parts supply!  @wallfish needs more show projects anyway!

Gonna be relying on all you old farts to help me to keep this beauty in shape. Currently dealing with a shredded mower belt. Down the road will need advice on the starter generator, snow blower rehab and valve adjustments….

I represent that.

 Anyway,   :text-welcomeconfetti:  to the :rs:

I buy all my Aramid Blue belts from TSC.  All have worked well and they are returnable for full refund if they don't fit.

:WRS:

I'm a bit over-qualified in the old fart aspect but would be happy to help where I can.

It’s with a heavy heart, I have found the turbulence inside that slim intake is a hindrance.  It cannot be utilized, even though it literally took an 11 hour period to build!

I bet @fast88pu could recommend a turbocharger that would breath (pun intended) new life into the old B&S.         :woohoo:

He already has   the crazy thing, is I can’t even get this to start (with the stock carb) with the intake on.  A turbo would not fix that, as it needs to run in the first place to build boost, then the magic happens. :happy-partydance:

A spiral intake would probably work.

I don't have Cad, but here's my EDD (Ed Dog Design.

Using your existing round plate on the carb intake, build a dual intake spiral case to evenly distribute the air flow around the intake.  With this larger area, the velocity will be much lower where it must make the 90 degree turn from horizontal to vertical.105_1029.JPG.c438d897178233b58078f6f65ab3e11d.JPG

The only way to adjust valves on a K181 is by grinding the valve faces and stem

This was a spin on the build, but an evil necessity.

Kevin, any video that starts out with a cat on your shoulder is a good video.           :handgestures-thumbupright:

:twocents-02cents:      having access to both sides of the metal if you spot weld from the back side in between the top side spots it should pull the metal back flat as they cool.

Kevin,  I know that blood, sweat, and tears (literally) went into the belt guard air scoop build,    BUT  watching you trailer load inventory this morning I couldn't help noticing how cool a snow blower chute would look as an air scoop.            :twocents-02cents:            Perhaps nex build.

It crossed my mind Mr. Richard!

Yesterday I had the orange over sprayed chute in my hand thinking that exact thing!  I really don’t think this scoop is the final product, but it’s good enough for the show at this time.  I have bigger fish to fry, like wiring, controls, etc.  Plus maybe other projects in the mix as well
