Pullstart that is a good idea I will start to look into that, a snorkel scope sounds pretty cool, I hope my fabrication skills are up for the task, sometimes I make things harder than it needs to be

Well I decided to go with 2 inch angle bolted to the frame instead of the 1/4 inch plate this way I have about an inch to play with for the air cleaner.  And who new I was so good with a cut off wheel and a sanding flap wheel. I was really fretting taking a cut off wheel to the hood but I think it turned out pretty good. It is amazing to me that once you modify one part there are ten more parts need to be modified

WHX24 it took me almost two weeks to decide if I really want to cut this hood up, my next chore is to figure out an air filter housing that does not involve any more holes in the hood

Man. Nice job on that.

What are you thinking for the air filter?

Maybe run some kind of a piping system down the side of the engine?

Ebinmaine I’m think of using a rectangle piece of tubing 1” x 4” x 3” and welding one side shut and then using 2 1/2” piece of thin walled tubing and mating it to the rectangle,  it always sounds better In my head,  I’m not a fabricator so it will take me a while to research all my options before something actual happens, I would like to try and run down to where the battery used to be there is plenty of room there just need to get it there,  also kicking around the idea of running duel exhaust. I’m looking for exhaust flanges to change the exhaust around

You could build a two into one header as pictured or run both pipes parallel and cut them in a slash like a harley street bike :handgestures-thumbupright: By the way Jeremy, that thing looks tough. Awesome job on the hood.

Sweet work on the hood fitment!  If I were Jim @WHX24 (or had a spare hood in my barn) I’d find one all painted up and try to work that into the custom, maybe sand some of the custom hot rod paint out...

Hey look, I already got Jim’s finger of approval for the idea!

I'm just now learning how to weld.

You're definitely in better shape than me.

The ideas sound good....

Kills me you ger a bang out of my hood collection Kev!

Lol yeah I got plenty of short frame hoods but all too often it seems we are light years apart and shipping a hood is a problem. I get on Dan's case all the time about cutting vintage metal but he's a welder, metal worker AND a painter!

I have read this thread so many times.  Before, and after Jeremy made such a sweet offer to Rylee.  Now, it’s home here in Michigan for completion work.  We need some supplies and some time, and we’ll be trying to complete it with Jeremy’s vision in mind.  She’ll have a pretty sweet show cruiser when she’s done!

Not trying to be the wet blanket, but have you checked the specs on the Sunstrand in that tractor? Can it stand up to the additional horsepower?

me?  Specs?  Naw.  I know Jeremy did tons of research and practically the same hydro was used in C160s of the next era.  I don’t really think this’ll ever get much work, maybe tow a cart or putz around at shows…

Shouldn’t have any issues. Honestly it is almost the same hydro as a D series and they ran 20hp through those plus way more weight of the tractor itself. Should make for a nice cruiser.

Guess i'm going to have to find some sort of an excuse to get to your place for a visit sometime this summer to get a closer look at that tractor.  Looks like an interesting project.

A couple more cool bits…. I like the key chain.  The Jim Kemp stack was planned to find a second for the dual exhaust.
