ebinmaine 62,353 #1 Posted November 26, 2018 I have several starter-generator setups here... only one is a Wheelhorse original. I need to find a mechanical voltage regulator that I can use but I have no way of knowing what these came off of or how to look one up. I don't see any part numbers on them. Three posts on one side. One on the bottom. How can I go about finding one of these?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,444 #2 Posted November 26, 2018 Have never known of any other supplier of the starter/generator than Delco but there could have been. B&S service manual. Click on the pictures to find the chapter. Kohler Wheel Horse did use a B&S engine with a starter/generator but forget which model. Garry
pfrederi 17,040 #3 Posted November 26, 2018 You can use either a 3 terminal or 4 terminal regulator. Other than 6 or 12 volt they are all pretty much the same. Some are marked positive ground but my S/G guy said it really didn't make any difference.... 1
ebinmaine 62,353 #4 Posted November 26, 2018 @pfrederi What's the fourth terminal that does not get used? You just kind of toss that wire on the workbench and not worry about it?
pfrederi 17,040 #5 Posted November 26, 2018 Instead of the A terminal on the bottom of a 4 terminal unit it is on the top of a three terminal. The L terminal is not there on a 3 term unit If you have something that needs it you piggy back on the Bat terminal

Thank you.
