formariz 12,040 #26 Posted January 26, 2019 Exactly right. Another item that one should always have a spare of. That along belts, condenser, points, plugs and ignition coils is a standard here. Oops forgot to mention engines

tunahead72 2,543 #30 Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) Hey @formariz thanks for the link for those check valves, and to everybody else for passing along your experience with them. It looks like Amazon no longer has those, but here's a link to something similar. I plan to install something like these on both my tractors soon: https://www.amazon.com/Return-Check-Petrol-Diesel-Aluminium/dp/B06XK5CSS4/ref=lp_15826214011_1_2?srs=15826214011&ie=UTF8&qid=1549822071&sr=8-2&th=1 -------- EDIT: Similar check valves are also available on eBay, some from sellers in North America, with presumably quicker shipping than ordering directly from Hong Kong or wherever. I can't tell if these are any different than the ones @formariz originally linked. If anybody has a reliable trusted source for these, I'd love to hear about it. CraigArndt 13 #31 Posted February 17, 2019 I rebuilt the fuel pump on my 520H during the restoration. It shot fuel 1/2 across the garage when I tested it. The diaphrams get tired after 30 years, but that design does work great. Pumps a lot of fuel.

stump5620000 1 #33 Posted July 5 have a flue pump that is bad i guess cause no gas GOING TO THE fule pump and gas coming out at bottom before flue pump on a wheel horse 520-H asking what is the best way to change that fuel pump on the 520-H because no room behind the flue pump to pull hose off and put hose on new pump looks like could be a lot of work looking for a easy way before i pull that hose off and have bigger problems

The other option is to remove the cover from the flywheel side, two bolts up from the bottom and the mess at the coil make that a bit difficult but once removed a good cleaning of the engine can be done. Cut your new hose a few inches longer than necessary and only cut it to final length when installing the pump. You can only have enough length to be able to get pliers behind the pump.

So true. When I did mine, I discovered there was actually a clamp in there that was to keep the pulse pump hose away from the spinning flywheel.
Lee1977 7,189 #37 Posted July 6 With the cheap Chinese electric fuel pumps buy two and hope one of them works. I had trouble with the vacuum pumps on 520 as I never knew if it was getting gas or not and it was easy to flood. With the electric I turn the switch let the pump hit 3 or 4 times turn to start pull the choke push it back in and it's running.
