Fluid change

Recommended Posts

kudzu3

The procedure should be simple, but I don't want to mess anything up, so I'll ask the question. I need to change the fluid in my '69 charger. What fluid? What filter? Where is the drain plug? I have searched for manuals to guide me, but cannot find anything. Thanks for any help. :)

First determine what is in there.  it may be ATF (Cherry Red) or 10w-30 motor oil tan.  stick with what ever is in there...  Filter Wix51410  You will need between 4 and 5 qts

Drain plug on the bottom 1/4" hex

The 69 Chargers use 2 different hydros...Eaton 6 and Sundstrand 90-2046.  Here are the manuals for the Eaton 6, and the Sundstrand 90-2046.  :)

Thanks folks! As always, you've answered my question.:) Mine has the Eaton, but I can't open the file for some reason. I'll keep trying. Thanks again.

Would the Eaton and Sundstrand both use the same filter? Thanks.

Yes, they both use the NAPA 1410 or Wix 51410.
