520hC-120 136 #1 Posted September 27, 2018 Hi guys, I’ve been experiencing problems with the drive belt on my 1055 puller. What it does is the belt will fall off every now and then then the belt eventually gets eaten. I have replaced the belt and looked at everything. It looks in order, but is not stock as you can see in the pics. The first and second pics are what it looks like after the belt has fallen off. The third pic is the assembly set up. Any suggestions on what to do would be nice. Thanks in advance!
daveoman1966 3,611 #2 Posted September 27, 2018 (edited) I think that the spring is connected incorrectly...that it should be connected to the idler pulley arm BEHIND the pulley...and that the spring is too big of diameter to begin with. The 'tab' that it is attached to is not right. That 'tab' is designed to keep the belt on the V idler pulley to keep it from popping off. It should be adjusted very close to the belt to provide that function. Similar to this pic... I don't have a 1055 or any like kind tractor....I'm sure others will comment on this topic but, clearly, the spring connection is wrong. iN LOOKING FURTHER AT OLD PICS, HERE IS A 656 and how the belt is rounted...although the spring is not shown.... 520hC-120 136 #3 Posted September 27, 2018 Thanks that helped. Still need advice though. A picture of where the spring goes would help. I don’t have a idler pulley arm on the tractor.
953 nut 51,682 #4 Posted September 28, 2018 Your spring should be on the other side. It attaches to the brake lever where the common shaft goes across and the other end of the spring connects behind the brake band.
daveoman1966 3,611 #6 Posted September 28, 2018 Here is a good schematic of the belt clutch / brake system. I was wrong is stating the spring is behind the pulley...it is NOT. the spring #32 is on the opposite side of the tractor, as 953NUT stated. This is a Raider 10 schematic, but is the same setup.

520hC-120 136 #9 Posted September 28, 2018 So I need a new spring that goes from the small hole (In pics) to the tranny support. But the park brake spring is on the spring as of now.

wallfish 15,919 #11 Posted September 28, 2018 Noticed in your 1st post you stated it's "your puller" you can use a larger spring for more belt tension if you think it's slipping under heavy load
