The Gman 476 #1 Posted May 28, 2018 So I've been a busy little beaver. Now have 4 count em 4 212's. Two work great the third has a tranny that's hurting real bad and the forth needs an engine rebuild. So I was thinkin, "Smell the wood burning??" Could I adapt the electric PTO clutch to one of my horizontal horses. Say my c120 or my electro 12? Given the crank shaft needs to be the same diameter. Whatcha think? ericj 1,576 #2 Posted May 28, 2018 why not combine the good motor and good trans on one and then you can put all of the best sheet metal on the good tractor eric j
The Gman 476 #3 Posted May 28, 2018 That's a good plan. Will do that. Still leaves me with an electric clutch free
pfrederi 17,147 #4 Posted May 28, 2018 Not familiar with the PTOs on your tractors but have several on horizontal shaft engines. What anchors the PTO to keep it from spinning? Horizontal units have a small tab welded on the coil section that is fastened to a simple bracket to the engine block. all you would have to do is rig up a mounting bracket to connect to your field coil. and hold it still.
The Gman 476 #5 Posted May 28, 2018 I'll tear into it the next day or two. Thanks
The Gman 476 #6 Posted May 28, 2018 My mistake. The one with the bad tranny is a 257. 17 hp kawasaki. My bad
WHX?? 46,809 #7 Posted May 29, 2018 The vertical clutches have a v shaped plate that is trapped by a bracket down off the frame. Also verts have the pullies on the outboard side so that may be a challenge.
