1965? Maybe 655 Engine Questions

Recommended Posts

The Tuul Crib

Just picked up this 1965  model 655 from a gentleman across town. I picked it up for  75 bucks!  It will definitely need an overhaul but it appears that everything is intact except for the original seat .

I've always liked that style of tire.

I just bought this  tractor  and it has a six  horsepower Tecumseh engine and  i'm not sure if this is the original engine. Would it hurt my value to put a Kohler on it?  This supposedly is a 6 V and not a 12 V system. Is this correct?  What engines were available on these tractors in 1965?

Please excuse me if I am being rude, but why do you put your member name as the subject title? If you give a subject title of what your working on, people will be able to use the search function to find info.

Thanks, Randy

You never did tell us what 1965 :wh: you have. Some came with a Tecumseh and some with Kohler. If you were to give the model number and subject in the title of your post it would be very helpful. Here is a list of '65 :wh: models, take your pick.

It's usually because folks don't know how things work. When I first started on forums, I didn't understand how threads worked. All's well. We just need to teach each other on how things go.

The Tool Crib :WRS: If the H or HH 60 runs good why change it. They are good engines and do a days work if they run good. Just  my:twocents-02cents:

Very nice 655 a good clean up it will be a lot better. A little hint if the engine runs good Keep that carb and have it rebuilt. I found this little trick works well instead of the cheap imports.

For some unknown reason, this phenomena seems to be occurring more and more frequently with new members.

They seem to be in such a rush to ask a question, they don't stop to think about the implications of what they are doing.

I've given countless newbies insight into why they SHOULD NOT put their user names in the thread subject line.

For some reason it never occurs to them 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 threads with the same title by the same poster might be confusing as h-e-double hockey sticks to everyone else here.

Searching through multiple posts with the same subject line is maddening!

Please ALWAYS begin a thread with a title relevant to the subject being discussed or question being asked.

Please.  prayer.png.d62edd7b77c111ee94564874e05a3e95.png

Somewhere down the line, hopefully you'll have a "eureka moment" and understand why this is important.

Regards,

Steve

The op has been told numerous times about why he shouldn't use his username as a subject title....for some reason, he won't comply. Oh well, some people won't learn, I guess.

I edited the title to a more appropriate title.  I also merged his two threads.

If this is a 655 the a Tecumseh was original motor.  This one is not painted red so I would guess it is a replacement.  All werer 12 volts.

Hello - I just bought my first garden tractor, a 1965 Model 655. I'm excited to put it to work, but need to find a pull behind mower or mower deck. I found a 38' wheel horse mower deck on craigslist but how do I know if it'll fit my model 655? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
