Would someone   know if it is possible to remove the gas tank without taking off the grille    in order to to work on  fuel pump and carb on the GT14  1970 model with full grille   thanks  for your hep//Ray

It's a real pain. I've always loosened it up to gain more room

I took the engine bolts out and slid the engine back on mine

Combination of above. Loosened the bottom bolts. Removed the bolts from where too hood rails attach to the nose.

 

try to implement your repair. Still not enough room then slide the engine back.

thanks you all as they say; it seems like I am in for a bit  of trying ops  in order not to damage the tank nipple . according to  Rob from Brewster it as no an easy task!

In case your tank nipple gets damaged here is a way to repair it  :

i have a spare tank tank as well if you wish to procure it you have my number. However, I would go route of the repair I documented in thread linked above by @cafoose
