1970 Raider 10 - I need a coil !!

Recommended Posts

stevebo

I picked up a unmolested Radier 10 with 42 inch mower deck from the original owner's son today. It is model 1-6041 and has a Tecumseh motor that is missing the coil. The pw had the shroud off and showed me where the coil goes. He did not have the coil though. I have never owned a Tecumseh 10 so I am not sure what the coil look like or have a part number. I would like to get this running. If you have a used coil laying around or can direct me to a source that would be great.

I looked the model up on partstree and the tractor is a 1970. thanks- Steve Bo in CT.

PS if someone is in love with the Raider 10 with a nice deck (all original) and wants to make a trade, I am all ears...

What is the model and serial numbers on the engine?

They should be HH-100 or HM-100

The MPV and PartsTree are wrong! A 1-6041 is a 1969 Raider 10 and it has an HH-100, Chris. (go look it up at Toro.com)

You're a bit too far away for me to strike a deal, but I would like to see it if you can post a picture or two, Steve.

I'll have to see about rounding up a coil. I think my son ("wh_702") might have an extra, but it's up to him whether he wants to part with it or not.

Here's a picture of one of the two '69 Raider 10's I used to have:

TT,

Send me a pm with you email and I can send you a pic. Still have not figured out the posting pic thing yet. I will take one tomorrow as it is dark here. The only difference is my tractor has a different two part type seat with adjustable back rest. Thanks for the info, you are certainly very knowledgeable about these machines. Thanks-

The two-cushion seat appeared in 1970 as a replacement for the 1969-only fiberglass pan seat.

Model number 1-6051 is actually the "real" 1970 Raider 10 and would have the newer hood/grille like the later models.

Although this one is a tad ugly, here's my 1970 R-10:

TT, that is the one. That pic is not that great but there it is. The replacement seat is in very good condition.

Are you sure that model number is correct, Steve?

That should also be a 1-6051 like my 1970 R-10.

This was my other 1969 R-10:

That sums it up... a 1970 it is !! TT, the only question I have is that the motor I have is red and the 1970 you posted has a black motor. I would guess that one was a replacement or repainted??

Red is the correct color for the engine, Steve. Mine was long-blocked and one of the previous owners painted the blower housing to match the rest of the engine.

This is the same tractor after a low-dollar pulling tractor conversion (minus the wheel weights):

And

to my son piloting it down the track.
