I'm ok with that. The metal's stuck.

Have Trina to take a welding course. she does great at everything she tries.  Then tack it together and have her weld it.

We've definitely talked about it multiple times.  It could happen.

I got Clyde the C-195 out today, hooked up the new lawn sweeper and swept the accumulation of sticks and leaves brought down by the recent winds.

Impressive sweeper.  I had it set low to pick up the acorn husks the squirrels have dropped.  Worked well - almost like a vacuum sweeper.  Only problem was that it also swept up about an equal amount of sand.

It is going to take a little time to get the brush height dialed in.

@JoeM  find the experimentation , and  WHAT IF ?  ideas ,  the way to go . realise it  upsets the purests , but  it  definitely eliminates the repetitive problem . as I often add , paint it red or black , and it disappears  , have a number of  problem spots , that have been changed  over years ago , still marvel  at the ridiculous  smooth / easy  reliable engagement .  my grandson handles all my welding . stay at it , pete

1054 Project

Not only got my 1054 running, I got the 48" mower deck fixed and remounted. Some shakin' & rattlin' going on but mowed 1/2 acre! Tractor needs a seat (1054/953). Mower (RM-483) needs replacement blades.

It's always gratifying to get a good old machine running again. Good job.

It looks like your mower deck wasn't equipped with the Acme Automatic Desquirrelizer attachment.

Looks like the chipmunks had been living under the belt guard for quite a while there. K & B @76c12091520h may be able to help out on the mower blades.

Please take a few minutes to tell us about yourself and the 1054 by doing an introduction.   https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/47-introductions/

Picked up the Work Horse tonight. Runs great & everything works. Needs a good cleaning & definitely a seat. I'll go thru it & change fluids, etc. Time to find a complete 2stage blower now

I call dibs on that fine muffler.   Oh, guess it goes with the engine,     :confusion-shrug:      Guess Jim's gain is my loss.      :ychain:

Tonight was attempt number 3 or uhhh 4… to put a good paint job on the C. On a positive note I’ve been getting plenty of experience 😁 I’m done after this….i think. I’m getting pretty comfortable with an HVLP paint gun.

:twocents-02cents:         Let the paint cure for a month or more prior to placing decals. It takes a long time to off-gas and if the paint is covered up too soon it will lift.

Would lightly wet sanding with a fine grit sandpaper help?

@702854boy Maybe, on some of the trash in the paint. some of the issues need touch up paint/sanding as they are fairly large.

I had issues with "Orange Peal" with Majic tractor paints from Tractor supply.  I personally think its a tad thick and difficult to thin properly. Which is fine when painting tightly curved surfaces like  axles and engines  but for a large flat surfaces it can glob up.
If the paint crinkles its usually a incompatibility with what's under it,  old paint, primer, oils and cleaning solvents, etc.
One of the problems i have encountered is that greases and oils and fuel can actually permeate the old paint to the point that it has to be completely removed before painting.

Use a long sanding block, pre soak your wet/dry paper, and flush with water as you sand. Go diagonal in one direction and then the other direction to prevent leaving tracks. Start with 1500 paper and once the flushing water is not showing paint color it is time for a new sheet of paper. When half of the orange peal is gone go to a less aggressive paper like 3000.

If you use their Enamel Reducer and Catalyst Hardener mixed according to their directions you will get good results.
