I could wire one in temporarily. I keep a Facet on the shelf.  

I don't wanna do much considering it's a parts tractor.

Then it is not connected correctly or one or both of the two check valves is frozen closed.     If the two check valves are working properly, you should be able to blow air or pump fuel through any pump.

Fuel filter was cracked so I took th air cleaner off and changed the lines and filter from pump to carb.

 I want to believe that I have it connected right. But I don't. Or the fuel pump is not pumping enough.

The way it sits right now I cannot use the primer to push fuel through.

 If I reverse the bottom two which makes it theoretically connected backwards, I can use the primer to fill the carburetor and it will run for a minute or two but then die when it's out of fuel because it's not sucking through the pump.

Eric, the first principle of any sort of wrenching is to assume any work you didn't do yourself was done wrong.

 

The second is to assume any work you did do yourself was done wrong.

 

 

I'm not familiar with that uinit butit has screws on the cover, that means it's removable. I don't know what the insides look like, but it's symmetrical. That means that cover can be installed backwards. Turning it 180 degrees would put the "in" marking where the hose from the tank was originally.

I'd been thinking the same about all 3 above sentences. 

 

I may pop that top cover off tomorrow.

Slight disassembly of the 702 to degrease/clean it. Then I assessed what needs to be done. Definitely some wiring issues.....I'll probably just re-wire it. New fuel line. Engine & trans oil change. Steering needs some help. Overall nothing really significant but a bunch of little things.

Today I removed the brackets from the front thatcher and bolted on a bump receiver hitch and inserted a sleeve hitch yoke.

Should have thought of it sooner...it lifts easy and attaches quickly

I believe you may need to swap these 2 lines. They are also marked IN and OUT      Or, the one to the carb down next to the primer bulb

 

 

On mine both in and out are in that position. The yellow line is from the tank the black to the carb, That horizontal bump on the cover is opposite postion and it also only has 3 ports

On the back side of the pump, under the cover, is the pulse hose, check that it is in good condition and connected.  

 

Mine has operated for the past 30 years just fine, here is today's photo:

@ebinmaine I’d almost mount the pump as low as I could get it and try to gravity feed it into the filter which could be as low too. The pump may be struggling to push fuel out to the filter as is.

Today was paint/fixing day. I repainted the C-141 hood IH red, the left inner front rim white and retried slime in the 312’s left rear tire. So far so good.

The 520H runs and drives!

 

The entire motion control system is worn and it's a two hand driver so no video...

 

Seems reasonable. Engine is decent and smooth. Transmission operates correctly. 

I had the hood off already so I leaned up against a tree. Easily made two nice tire holes in the gravel. 

 

 

Now.... to rip it apart!
