What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Nothing exciting happening with my horses today. I just took the 1075 out for a short drive. Glad I picked this one up. Still looking for an engine for its little brother.... the 875.

Put the 312 to work again on the baseball field.  Clover/grass mix was very thick and wet.  We've had like 2 weeks of rain here and this hasn't been cut since last time I did 3-4 weeks ago.  It was a great test for the 12hp kohler and 42" deck and I was pleasantly surprised.  I had the height of cut at 2nd lowest setting and did high range 2 gear the whole time and she never missed a beat!  Very impressed!

during...had to stop a couple times to get baseballs that were left by the previous team.  Too thick and high to see them.  I'm glad I did though before hitting one

Couple days ago I started building a wicked rugged trailer hitch for whatever horse it lands on. 

I'll likely build 2 or more similar hitches for Cinnamon Horse and the Charger hydro etc.....

That's 2 x 2 square stock.

not always possible - but if / when you can - cut at a higher setting 

 

especially when the grass has not been cut for 3 - 4 weeks (?) 

 

the grass and tractor will both thank you

Talk about sending me down memory lane just as we're ready to list the house for sale! With us it was a "Ford Focus Hatchback" load. I made a WAG about how much a block weighed, and made a lot of runs back and forth, one way on the suspension stops. Then I actually weighed one! Started getting pallets delivered.

Agreed- I have always found the 42SD cuts best at the 2nd from highest cut position. It must be something with the airflow of the deck at that height, but whatever it is, it's the best cut that deck can give. It also disperses clippings better at that height. Seems like the highest setting allows the grass to lay down before it cuts.

 

Anyway- looks great!

Replaced the o-rings in the hydraulic control valve on my C160. Really makes me appreciate the simplicity of the older machines compared to the newer ones with all the covers and guards. Accessing the control valve on my C141 a couple months ago led to a lot of aggravation, blood and I'm pretty sure I may have taught the neighbors a few new words

I put  my 310 up on the workbench for some much needed love. Need to do a full service then had to slide a hub back out flush, then clean the tank and install new tank grommet, fuel line, exhaust gasket, headlight bezels and batter hold down. Found some loose connections too. Have a new rear blade bracket and receiver hitch I from Wheelhorsepartsandmore.

Yup, 8 foot ramps and if you look at the front of the workbench, the winch is still attached. Pulls them right up.

Took a 2 mile shake down run today.  I think it’s Big Show ready!  I did notice after about 3/4 mile I had a ton of condensation on the intake elbow past the carb.  Is that concerning?

No, don't think so. Condansation means that part is cooler as the surrounding. Could be because of the cool gas.

 

It was probably a hot (warm) day and your museum was nice and cool?.

Oil bath air cleaner. Did you clean it out? Water from the air will condense in there and get stuck in the oil

Yes, I changed it a day or two ago.  I think Maxwell was right.  Hot outside, cool in the barn, full tank of fuel.  After sitting 15-20 minutes, I fired it up again and it never happened again.

Lots of humidity out your way? Pipe cold from the lower temp in the barn. Also the lower temp air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air so the cast iron sort of soaks some of the moisture into the pores of the elbow. Elbow warms up outside and some of the moisture will rain out.
