That belt release disengages the hydro. That and the parking brake will keep it in place.

VERY nice.

I do like a nice wide rear. On a tractor.

I was worried it might steer hard because I went from a narrow tri-rib to those 7.50 in front but with plenty of air in them I really can’t tell a lot of difference on that light tractor.

@ebinmaine - I use the tractor mostly for yard work.  My yard is mostly level, save for a short hill in front of the lake house. I use the Sears trailer for misclaneous hauling, up to and including about 1/3 yard of dirt.  I also use it to move the small house trailer and pontoon about.  I currently don't have any ground engaging implements, so traction isn't really an issue.

About the only up side to loading the tires is an increase in stability due to the lower centre of gravity.  Probably would use windshield washer fluid or rv antifreeze if I decide to proceed.

As long as localized ground compaction isn't an issue IMHO all tires should be filled if nothing else, for stability.

Tuneup

We should  make a goal for this weekend to get this thread to 400 pages, no less!

I bought out 3 Walmarts in 3 towns and am ready to pump winter washer fluid into the 516. It'll be a glorious Saturday.

Did you have the center of those spindles bored out? I'd like to do that to a couple of tractors.

Those hubs are Gravely. They were tapered and keyed. I drill them out on the drill press. Slow process. The shiny pieces were done on a lathe. Bushings/spacers. Assembled then line bored on the lathe.

Now on to the hydro leaks on the C160. Gonna start with repairing the lift cylinder, then look for other leaks if any.

On my C160 Automatic It is 44 years young and still doing like it should. The only leak I had was a hose on the lift. bought a use hose off of the net and 7 years later now---no leaks. ------Good luck.

Smoothing off some rough edges of the build and trying to get caught up with all the welding and grinding.

Tach-a-matic

got the Zack Kerber solid motor mounts to bypass the rubber system which I am not a fan of.  A little tricky getting the holes to line up but a tire iron helped.

The shroud had to come off

Since the shroud is off might as well take the head off, Ive got a gasket.

Lets see if she holds any secrets...

Burning some oil, huh?

Looks like someone has been here before (to be expected on a 40yr old machine I suppose).  No major scratches or gauges though :)

they didn't stamp OEM pistons like this in 1980 did they?
