Not "orange peel" but wrinkling.

I was referring to the areas that aren't 'wrinkled', there's significant 'orange peel' there.  I'll edit the post for clarity...

Oh, OK, I was focussed on the wrinkling and never saw anything else.

Installed the new seat on the 417H.    Then took a 3 hour test ride pulling the rake and sweeper.   It smooths out the bumps and feels secure on the side hill.

I really need to do this, making two passes with the dethatcher and sweeper sucks!

I have today also a phenomen, i believe it is caused by humidity, but no clue.

2 day‘s ago i fillered my reworked Beltcover, with a sprayfiller to finish for repaint it, two day‘s later i carefully finished it

With 1000 wet sand and after i clean it with degreaser and after cure i applied primer.

it begins immediately to flake out.

i did this before at same Temp range and time slot and with exact the same Material.

i help it cure with an old Hardryer what worked pretty well the first time.

The today‘s result was horrible, it appears like a skin of a 150 years old Man between the legs.

I used the same material and same timeslot as last time it worked perfectly,

the only difference was the humidity today was much higher than the last time i do it.

I scraped immediately the whole thing down to bare Metal in my frustration.

Frustrating -  i thinkering if thinning the whole Sheetmetal before for rust protection and finish,

than carefully grind in shape and primer will work better.

let‘s see how this will turn out.

Ejection seat!  Nice! How far will it launch you?

Too far Dennis.  I have to replace with a weaker spring or gain some weight.      With it set on minimum tension, 180lbs is not enough weight to get it to bottom out.

It's too cold to paint and all parts are in the mail so tackled this project time for a beer

Did you prime the hood before top coating?  If so, with what?

Because i feared the Tinning will destroy my original Sticker,

i decided to grind the whole Beltcover down to bare metal with vibration grinder.

Than primer and Paint.

I‘m ok with the result.

Went off-roading today. Been cleaning out the over growth behind the house and discovered there is a lot of open ground behind the brush. Still a lot of cleanup to doesnt. It also drops off and slopes down about 3-4 feet to flat ground. There will be trails out there eventually :handgestures-thumbupright:

@19richie66 Have you forgotten how fast briers , poison oak, saplings and weeds grow below the Mason - Dixon line. ? You will need a bush hog. Forgot the cut zoo ( can't spell it )

I finally got my rear tires mounted for the 1257 Heavy! Slowly coming along but warmer weather means more time in the shop!

Its a lot of vines with the thorns on them. Cutting it all by hand so far. It’s a work out.

That sure is some undergrowth!  I got some areas like that, and I've had problems with the thorns puncturing tires.

Above the line a noxious invasive weed vine called "Porcelain Berry" is a big problem.  Very similar to the way Kudzu is blanketing the South.  Kudzu is making it's way North also, it's been reported in numerous locations in NJ.

Tuneup

That old kudzu better stay the heck away from Great Meadows and its lovely sod farms. I do miss that area of NJ. I do like this topic so much! Pay a little attention to a Wheel Horse and just write about it.

The 516H during its prep for Spring was found to have a jury-rigged tie rod - simple through bolt with double nuts. The Stens replacements came today and I got to install and align using these heavy duty adjustables. Very nice!

Not doing much actual work on the Horse.  That will wait for some warmer weather.

Mental list at the moment is: chasing down the slow leak in the right rear tire, investigating the rattle under the belt guard when the clutch is engaged - I suspect the idler pulley here,  replacing one of the belt guard bolts that seems to have  evaporated, a slight modification to the receiver hitch then paint, and finish up the lift mechanism for the tine rake and paint.

Got some cracks to address in the Sears trailer as well.  This one will probably turn into a total repaint project.

Still debating myself on filling the tyres.

Installed a new drive belt tonight, a 7478

IMG-6983.jpg

Is this belt tension release lever to increase safety while using stationary implements, or?

Ugh, no life left here...
