Workshack. The same Generation.. Almost

Space... where does it all go?

No sooner is it created, then it feels up again in double fast time...

Not being able to extend the Workshack outwards anymore, and getting fed up with parts and bits taking up floor space, some more space had to be found if Im ever to have a clear-ish floor again..

But how to make more space... Easy move a door :dunno:

When the Workshack extension was built, the old window opening was opened right up so a WH could be driven right through. As demonstrated by Garry here.

The problem is the big bench that's holding up project 6x6x6... It stops WH's being driven through.. Which meant the big door way was a bit of a waist of space

As luck would have it the old doorway to the office was in the right place and just needed opening up again.

Bit of an old photo this, but the boarded up doorway is the slab of OSB behind the trailer.

With the new doorway opened up, the old one was quickly boarded up and painted.

The only problem with the new door is this big box just in the right place to bang your head.

The box is a small extension from the wood store (behind the brown boards), it was built so i could store a roof crawling board i used to have back in the days of a tin roofed Workshack.

A short while later the box had gone...

If your wondering why there is a shirt arm hanging from the roof, i shall tell you..

It happened during the big re-roofing party..

As is the way with these things the weather decided it was going to shower us with heavy showers on and off during the day.

During one of the rainy moments my Wife covered a stereo speaker that was still bolted to the wall with my shirt to keep the water off..

It was never noticed that the shirt arm had gone over the top of a roofing beam, and was not even noticed when the boarding was screwed down

At the end of the day when i needed my shirt the little problem was noticed at last.

So... I cut the shirt from the arm and left the arm hanging as a funny reminder :omg:

The last of the OSB i bought for the extension came in handy for cladding the wall where that box had been.

Add some white paint to get the walls to match..

So.. what to do with the extra space that was the old door walkway

A big bench and shelves for storing all the parts scattered about the place :omg:

Here's the start of the bench frame..

100_6048.jpg

The bench top used to live in a joinery spray booth.

100_6050.jpg

Loads of space underneath for storing engines, trans, other heavy stuff :D

100_6052.jpg

It's shelf time. The first one put up :D

DSC07667.jpg

The next shelf had to have it's legs screwed in from underneath..

Slightly tight working conditions :D

DSC07669.jpg

Shelf number 2 in place :omg:

DSC07671.jpg

A big shelf but not quite big enough to fit me

Just thought id let you know as Im typing this it is blizzard conditions outside :D

Not seen snow like this in years :o

Enough snow distractions, i will get plenty of that tomorrow

Back to the plot.. What there is of it..

Paint.....

Always check what color dries before slapping it on :dunno:

I didn't check first and then found the alpine green i found for the shelves and bench had dried to the kinda soothing green you would find in a retirement home bathroom.. Not nice :D

Once it had dried the green-ish wall parts got a coat of white.

100_6218.jpg

And the rest got a coating of blue... That looks better :D

100_6221.jpg

Oh, and Ive kinda got some lights sorted

DSC07662.jpg

That's all so far folks.. If the Workshack isnt snowed under i might start finding the floor again by putting parts on the shelves :thanks:

Weren't you just wishing for snow in another post? Be careful what you wish for. How do you measure the depth of the snow around your place, by how many pallets it covers? " That was a 3 pallet snow storm", or " Back in 2002 we had a 5 pallet blizzard..........".

Oh by the way, your work shack is looking good  .
