Work Horse 700

WHX??

So had a guy offer me this tractor today. I politely declined as it's not exactly on my bucket list but curious about it none the less. I also thought he was a little high on the price but who am I?  Is this a brother to the 500 Special? Perhaps a 500 special dressed in consumer clothes or a model where they were just using up extra parts? I would guess it was originally supposed to have a Techy in it but a PO either got tired of monkeying with a fussy Techy or just plain wore it out hence the Briggs. Too bad he cut the hood. :(

The Workhorse 700 was I think the last of the short frame wedge hoods and was a 1969 model.. the 500 Special was a 1968. I don't think it holds any special significance other than that.... it was the low end price point garden tractor that year. And yes... it was a Teccy 7Hp.

I mean, if it was priced right, yeah...

no big issues there that can't be fixed.

I know them seats are getting hard to come by...

and, it's a pretty nice one at that.   :confusion-shrug:

 That steering wheel too.  :handgestures-thumbsup:

Probably a little of everything Jim. The 500 Special was a cheapy too. An aluminum Tecky pull start...... But there is the cool factor that ya gotta love. I think I would have been sweet talking the owner of that 700. I could see you doing some tweaking on it and making it real special. :)

Yah fellas the seat & wheel was the first thing I scoped out. According to the seller it had both electric and pullstart. He was askin 450 and is drinkin buddies with @Shynon and is a heck of a nice guy and I felt honored that he would offer it to me first instead of  from MN! :ychain:

Anyhoo the seller is a Case guy who flips tractors to fund a WWII museum he has so I didn't think it was fitting to low ball him.... specially right after Memorial Day and he does try to find a proper home for tractors.  I was upfront with him as should be with all transactions so all is well. If someone else is interested let me know.

I'd say he's High too.  :twocents-02cents:

Half that... maybe?  Based on current condition.
