dlaw90 14 #1 Posted May 20, 2017 I rolled my 1999 314-8 out today to grease the zerks. While i was rolling it, i heard the sound of metal on metal rubbing. It looks like the sound is coming from the brake drum. I checked the brakes according to manual and the brake adjustment needed to be tightened. I tightened it, but the rubbing noise is still there. Is there anything else I should check? Transaxle fluid is full and looks clean. This is my first tractor so no answer is too obvious
953 nut 58,364 #2 Posted May 20, 2017 You may want to jack it up and remove the left rear wheel to inspect the brake band. If the lining on the band is bad you can buy a replacement band lining from @rmaynard, top quality and reasonably priced.

Do the new bolts simply thread into the hubs from the backside? Are there any downsides to converting to lug nuts (less strength, interference with some wheel weights, etc)?
rmaynard 15,964 #7 Posted May 22, 2017 Have not had any reports of a "downside"" Yes, they just thread in from the back. Some hubs require the removal of the square-head set screw and jam nut until the one bolt that conflicts is installed.
