RandyLittrell 3,906 #1 Posted May 7, 2017 Picked up a C-120 today off craiglist for a good price this morning and thought I would see what you all thought. I failed to take a pic of the serial number, not even sure its there. But I know the paint is original. Looks like the seat, steering wheel, hood emblem, and most everything else is original and correct I think. From pictures I have looked at I think its a 74 or 75. It has some wiring issues so I haven't got it running yet, but the guy promises me it runs. I only paid $145 so I think I got a good deal. Any ideas on what the wheel weights came off of?

Tankman 3,523 #3 Posted May 7, 2017 Very nice Horse but, same old story, "followed me home" ? She believe you? Price? Mower deck? Sounds like a Horse thief. Nice! Weights look similar to old Deere? Update your progress?

There was a cub on the trailer too, but it will blend in with the other cubs. I don't have too many horses yet so they stick out a little more. May have to throw some dirt on it and claim its been there all along! No deck, its gonna do a little plowing if I find a plow. Racinbob 11,976 #5 Posted May 7, 2017 (edited) Nice!! I'd say a 75. The seat and hood ornament say that it's a 74/75. In 74 the only C-120 with a Tecky was a hydro. That has the look of being an original survivor. Can you read the model # on the tag on the side of the hood tower? Edited May 7, 2017 by Racinbob

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,611 #8 Posted May 7, 2017 Nice score, Randy. To hide it from the wife, just store a few things on it to conceal its identity. There were red Cubs at one time.

Racinbob 11,976 #11 Posted May 7, 2017 That's making it a 74....with a Kohler motor......more of the Wheel Horse shenanigans?
pfrederi 18,703 #12 Posted May 7, 2017 in 1973 all the horizontal tractor used Kohlers In 74 and 75 Techys showed up. Supply problems from Kohler or was WH trying to get a better deal from Kohler by showing they could use Techies??? Combine that with WH reputation for using up existing stock.... gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,510 #14 Posted May 7, 2017 The model number on the tractor's ID plate is 1-0356-9 The 9 is not used but if you subtract 5 from that 6th digit you get the model year. 9-5=4=1974 You will see 6, 7, 8 and 9 used on the attachments at the time also representing 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974. The tractor model number also identifies the year but often attachment model numbers where used more than one year so the 6th digit identifies the model year. RandyLittrell 3,906 #15 Posted May 8, 2017 Thanks for all the help guys, Gonna leave this one with its patina for now, working on getting the aluminum rattle can off some kid sprayed on very recently. Its coming off but making a mess in the process. MIght shoot some paint on the wheels and replace the grip tape but try to keep it as original as possible. RandyLittrell 3,906 #16 Posted April 19, 2023 Pulled the C-120 out of the back of the shed and am happy with just how nice it is. I honestly didn't even check it over that much when I bought it, just stuck in the shed and covered it up. I must have not been used that much and spent a good deal of time under a cover of some sort. It even still has the plastic protector over the switches. I am gonna see if I can get it running, hopefully doesn't need too much. I see my first pics do not show up anymore, I was using a hosting site back then. Here are some more pics. RandyLittrell 3,906 #17 Posted April 19, 2023 @Ed Kennell the pictures you posted for me back in 2017 told the whole story. I see where the errant wire goes now and shouldn't be too bad. I have gained a lot of knowledge since then and the wiring doesn't look as bad as it once did!! Thank you!!
