Wheel Horse did buy the Sno-Flite snowmobile line in 1969. They finished out that year producing the yellow Sno-Flites. As for Wheel Horse Safaris there are only two official model years. 1970 and 1972. There were six models in 1970 and three models in 1972. I'm sure there were sleds made in 1971, but there are absolutely NO records to differentiate between 1970 and 1971 sleds, and there were no model changes. Thus officially, per the Wheel Horse Master Engineering Files there are no 1971 models. The 1972 models had slight changes, and a only a parts list update was issued.

Price range is really all over the map. Same as with garden tractors, it's going to depend first on how badly anyone wants a particular one, then it moves on to things like location, condition, rarity, options, serviceability, what the seller is looking to get out of it, and how much (if necessary) work you can or are willing to do to it. I picked up a Wheel Horse Safari 335 out of a transfer station up here in Minnesota for free, and I've seen others on auctions bring anywhere from no bids to $200. Usually on private sales, they go anywhere from $100-500 depending on the shape.

I couldn't speak for New York prices, I don't have any experience out there beyond what I've seen occasionally on ebay. I have a feeling they'll be toward the higher end of the mid-western price range simply because most of them were made and sold here. The factory was in Des Moines at first, and shortly before the line was discontinued, Wheel Horse moved production to South Bend in the garden tractor off-season. You never know though. For the most part, vintage sleds appeal to a different demographic than garden tractors, and as with anything. If you're patient, you'll eventually find the right deal for you.

Please check out the "WWW" button at the bottom of my post. I have a website with lots of info and pictures of Sno-Flite and Wheel Horse sleds.
