Kohler K482 engine muffler

Recommended Posts

Are there any credible North American suppliers of mufflers for the K482 engine (perhaps Walker)?

I need  a replacement.

Thx.

I work at the only aftermarket Tenneco/Walker exhaust factory in the USA, and no sir you won't get a Walker muffler for a Kohler, Onan, ect as it is 98% light car/truck and the rest medium/heavy duty truck/bus/equipment.

If you know what style you want, I assume OEM style, just search ebay.   I have a NOS Kohler muffler that is exactly like whats on my Commando 8, stored in a cabinet in our spare room where its dry and will not rust.  The OEM Kohler mufflers have a better "tone" and last longer than the cheapo pepper pots you can get from various sources.     Mike

Dont think there are any sources that will have a factory type muffler... most of us have to fabricate a replacement - and they can vary quite a bit!

My first try at replacing them was on my D-180 and I went with a stock appearance using 2 mufflers that was similar to original and cut & welded them into fitting - while they turned out pretty well and sound good it was quite a project!! and I didnt want to do that again. So it came time to do something for the D-200 and I went for stacks -- that turned out much better!!

I'm going that route soon as the weather turns , my D-180's mufflers are both rotting out and starting to burn the paint off the grill , not to mention they sound as bad as they look...

How did you route the piping to make them land at the point they are sitting ? Almost looks as if the outlets that are bolted to the engine could be swapped from side to side and make it easier to avoid the grill and hood...?

I have a WH 300 series with a Kohler Magnum 10 engine and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the choke cable and linkage set so it will work. The numbers on the engine label  are worn off the, so I cannot give anyone that information. Does anyone have a picture or can you head me in the right direction.

My arm for the linkage assembly is set at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock if that helps. There seems to be several different linkage rods for this engine.

      Thanks

I’ve got a 520xi with a ch20 kohler. It has 982 hours. It runs fine, but after seeing this valve train kit on eBay, I was wondering if there is any harm or need to throw one in it. Any one have insight into this?

      Hey all!

Replacing the drive belt on my 252-h. Anyone know the torque specification for the center screw when I put this pto clutch back on? I know it was on there tight it took a minute for the impact to break it loose. Thanks!
