Great Model Airplane video

Recommended Posts

(it took me two times to connect to the link.) (also, it is long - >6 mins.)

B29 Bomber: WWII workhorse

This is only a model airplane, but the time he must have spent putting this together, and learning to fly it. Awesome.......

This aircraft runs on four Chainsaw motors. You can just imagine how much time, effort, skill and money these guys have put into this thing. Click on the site below. Pay attention to the red X-1 Experimental Jet Plane under the B29 wing.

Yep that is awesome, I can relate to that!! let me tell you a little story..... back in winter of 1986 / 1987 I purchased a model airplane and all the groceries an electric jobbie. After I spent a month building it I took it up to the high school and in 1 minute I tore it up & crashed it real good. Got another one this time had a guy teach me how to fly. We went out to a field N/W of Niles where they fly ULTRA FRIGHTS and had a guy take me up and that was the beginning of the end! A few months later I took MJ up to the airport told her I bought her a present and told her to close her eyes and then showed it to her, a 1966 Piper Cherokee 180 with Full IFR and within 9 months of flying that model airplane had my pilots license. Completly sanded the airplane down and repainted and refurbished the whole thing. Flew it and logged over 500 hrs and Sold the Airplane in 1991 to a friend of mine! I have since built several model airplanes and can appreciate the time that goes into them. I'm not sure if that is a chainsaw engine sounds like 4 strokes to me  I have a 4 stroke in my Kadet senior that is cloth covered and has landing lights flaps and bombay doors with a parchute guy that drops out. Sometime when I have time I will get my VCR tapes of my Cherokee and my model airplane stuff and transfer them to compuker file and post them on U tube.

By the way MJ likes this tractor stuff better cause some of the stunts I pulled in the Airplane like landing on the new US 31 bypass while it was being built :dunno: and some other stuff I wont mention cause it might incriminate me! I did some pretty :imstupid: chit. Besides the Tractor stuff is way less exspensive!

It does sound a little throatier than the average chain saw engine, but I wonder if a four stroke could survive the long passes flying upside down? :dunno: Even in a pressurized system the oil has to start from some type of sump, doesn't it, and isn't that a function of gravity?

How does the engine in your Kadet handle it, Duke?

Duff

Very cool!

Always wanted one, lack the ability. I Do have the R/C Flight simulator.. pretty decent at it, just dont think i could deal with crashing something I spent months building...

Dont think I've seen any large models being flown as aggressively as this one, most just circle around. Launching a 2nd model was impressive also. Great video.

A few weeks back I noticed some RC videos on youtube and was amazed at just what they can do. What they are doing with RC choppers is unreal. If I had seen this done in a movie would have said it was added with CGI.

When I was 13, my father got into r/c helicopters. They were all gas powered, and made for outdoors. I started getting into with him also. Flying inverted, (upside down), was a huge thing to go back then. Just hovering them in the same spot is work in itself. To see them doing this.. just a huge amount of respect for them. I'm sure that that payed their pipers though. I just bought a r/c airplane from a tag sale. Good price, and it's ready to go. I'm not, but would like to be. So many hobboes, so little time.

Duff thats not a problem, They have a weighted fuel Pick up and flexible silicone tubing in the fueal tank that lets the engine pu the fuel. The weighted fuel PU flops over into the fuel when upside down it also recirculatets with pressure. I cant fly mine upside down like that but can do loops, Hammerheads and all that other stuff. The Kadet Senior is kinda a dossel flyer with a 6 1/2' wingspan kinda a heavy plane being covered in painted cloth and with all the extra stuff I have in her but that weight is good flying in the wind. Mine has an OS max SURPASS FS91 4 stroke and developes 1.6 h.p. Those that are on that big plane are prolly 200's and has 4 of them giving it 2.9p h.p. ea = 11.6 hp more than my snowblower :omg: or any of my WH tractors :whistle:OS MAX SURPASS ENGINES

I prefer the scale helicopters to the stunt ones myself. These days, they're flying 7 foot long, gas turbine- powered machines with retractable gear, working strobes, moving guns on the attack helicopters, you name it.

Keep in mind these guys are going for a realistic look and sound on these machines. They are easily capable of performing the same aerobatics as a stunt setup, but the engine alone costs well over a couple grand. They tend to fly a bit more "realistic" than the other ones...

If I ever have $15,000 lying around....

Frank I never have been there but picked up a VCR tape years ago of a couple shows. I haven't flown mine since I guess I got rid of my Cherokee :dunno: There are a couple guys who fly just about 1/4 mile from my house about every weekend at the Jr. High School. I have stopped and watched them fly a bit and they told me to bring mine up. I need to do that this summer sometime will need to go thru the whole thing replace the receiver battery prolly hafta get my flight box put back together

Yeah its a small world us guys do have lots in common  Yep even Weeeeemeeeen!

Frank while on that subject did I ever tell ya? Iv'e spent most of my $$$ MOney $$ on whiskey and women and the rest???? Well I guess I just plain wasted

Did I hear someone say Wheel Horse?

My two favorite times of the year...

Summer when it's warm enough to spend all daylight hours playing with WH tractors...

and winter...

When it's too darn cold to do anything but stay inside and build RC planes (now, mostly just slow flyers...electric.)
