Cam shims

I am in the process of putting a Kohler M14 back together. In checking the cam endplay I found that I needed 0.015 thousands shims.I checked and found Isavetractors have these shims in stock.Just in case anyone needs any I think the cost is reasonable and its nice not having to go out looking to a dealer for them.By looking through his listing the shim is also used in the balance gears.I didn't know that.Good info, I think.JAinVA

I have made my own washers out of shim stock to get a job in the past. Being able to purchase them sounds much easier.

achto ,

I thought about doing the same thing. In fact I just ordered some bronze washers to make up some governor gear thrust washers.I know I have some grenade gear shims in the shop but can't locate them.

In lots of 5 the shims are around $2.00 each.I may just order additional amounts for the parts drawers.

I’ve got a 520xi with a ch20 kohler. It has 982 hours. It runs fine, but after seeing this valve train kit on eBay, I was wondering if there is any harm or need to throw one in it. Any one have insight into this?

Husband wants some advice… lol.  So we did an engine swap today on two suburbans because we could not get the one engine to spark all the time to get it running!  The engine ran last year before parking for the winter sleep…. Points were changed out for new the engine was cleaned to make good contact has new spark plug new coil condenser we even switched out the fly wheel today thinking maybe the magnet was weak…. Advice???   It would where are you out yanking on the recoil five or so times and maybe only get the points to fire twice if you’re lucky..  checked the gap and pull again… same thing over and over!  Thanks in advance!
