It looks like it was much ado about nothing - even though Charter's web site indicates the service is in my area, a phone call indicates otherwise. I'll continue on with dial-up. :whistle:

To anyone considering HS internet services:

Be aware that as with many things, cable internet service's ads are intentionally misleading. For example- Time Warner advertises faster speeds than DSL, but only if you have what the FCC considers "barely" DSL service from a phone company. The FCC considers anything over 128Kbits/second to be "broadband services" -and THAT is the DSL definition most used by cable companies. It's a legal claim, but it intentionally misleads customers.

I work for a phone company. We offer 30Megabits/second services, and have for years, for considerably less $$ than a cable company. NO cable company out there comes close, not even on their "special" packages. If they ever do decide to give us any competition, all we have to do is turn the speed up. Our systems and networks are capable of much more in most cases.

I have never understood why phone companies choose not to debunk cable company claims, but I guess that's why I'm a tech and not the CEO.

Point being- Check with your local telco. You may be surprised what is available to you.

BTW going back thru your town Sun, going to pick up an 8 speed tranny to switch out the hydro on the GT, gonna try it and see which one i like better, going to dual ags, :whistle:
