Ed Kennell 41,802 #1 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) My Grandson, Clayton, plays baseball on a 15U traveling tournament team that has done very well providing some great entertainment for his family. Over the past 5 years, we have played in international tournaments in NY, Del, SC, Va., and Ky. This weekend we played in a 17 team 16U tournament in Pottstown, Pa. finishing with 3 wins and a loss in the semifinal game. The highlight of this tournament was our third game win against the Philadelphia team that played in the 2014 Little League World Series semifinal game at Williamsport, Pa. You may remember this team and their ACE pitcher...Ms Mo'ne Davis. The only female to pitch in a championship LLWS game. rmaynard 16,291 #4 Posted October 10, 2016 I watch a lot of the LLWS games each year, but I didn't get to see the games Mo'ne pitched in 2014. I saw a recap of her pitching. She was (is) amazing. It's very sweet that she gave your grandson an autograph. Youth Baseball provided many hours of enjoyment for me from 1982 to 1994 when my son was playing. Hopefully it will all start again with some of my grandsons. Glad you posted the story.
Ed Kennell 41,802 #5 Posted October 10, 2016 Yes, she is still an amazing pitcher and a beautifully poised young lady that has handled all the attention and pressure very well. I had the opportunity to talk with Mo'ne and her mother after our game. Her main sport is basketball and she is hoping to play for UConn in a few years. I would not be surprised to see her playing in the WNBA some day. I don't know if you recall Bob, but the 2014 LLWS championship was won by the Illinois team that was later stripped of the title due to illegal team members on the roster. This disqualified Illinois team beat Mo'nes Pa team 6-5 in the semifinal game taking them out of the series. This Illinois team beat Mo'nes Pa. team 6-5 earlier in the semifinal game.
