just read that the friction control component should not be lubricated. would lubricating it cause transmission jerking when starting and changing directions. We are guilty of this .Also we just installed a new belt and changed the filter and oil

:WRS:               You can probably correct the situation with a little spray of "brake-klean".    Tel us a bit more about your :wh:.

The friction design of the motion control components is what keeps the tractor in a constant speed ...fwd / rev.   Oil or any other lubricant  is meant to reduce friction...defeating the purpose of the whole apparatus.  Don't lube any part of it....just keep the dust and crap blown away.

If you have a newer eaton, it will be different than Dave listed above too.

The jerking may be an adjustment needed on linkages (sometimes they wear and have too much slop), if you have a worn cam plate (on an eaton, I dont know if sundstrands have that cam plate), or it could be a loose hub on the back axle. Make sure your setscrews are tight on the hubs and that when you move from forward to reverse that the axles dont move at all within the hub. If they do you may need axle repair replacement or a new key and hub.

Oh and Welcome!
