Old Screw 8 #1 Posted September 22, 2016 Need a little more help here and I should be up and running! When I got this tractor the drive belt was broken and the front pulleys were locked up (I got those working). The mower deck has the following numbers on it 1542SC02 27766 The belt on it has the number 12-8781 on it and Google says it is a 84" belt. In the picture you can see how the last guy had it on TOP of the pulley! There is no way this belt is going around that pulley and all the adjusters are free. I measured the PTO drive belt and checked the manual and determined it needs to be a 103" belt. Anyone know what size belt should be on this deck?

Old Screw 8 #8 Posted September 22, 2016 That 2" will get me around that pulley..... I thought something was rong. : ) Off to Tractor Supply to get some belts!
mystery_enigma 11 #9 Posted September 22, 2016 If the guy mowed with this he's my hero. Doesn't that take a two sided belt that you won't find at Tractor Supply or Flarm N Feet?
Old Screw 8 #10 Posted September 22, 2016 Oh great..... A two sided belt? I bought the same type of V-Belt that was on it. I mowed a big lot with it and have some super fine blue dust by the 2 outside pulleys. The belt looks fine, all the tensioners are free. Didn't smell anything burning. Used the same belt on the PTO and its fine. Is this just the belt breaking in or did I get the wrong belt?
woodchuckfarmer 333 #11 Posted September 22, 2016 Its from rusty or pitted pulleys They need sanded and cleaned up. Wayne
Alrashid2 382 #12 Posted December 17, 2024 @Old Screw - did you ever figure this one out? Found your post in researching: I've got the same blue dust on my engine around the crank pulley, after replacing the drive belt with a TSC blue belt! I saw @woodchuckfarmer said it could be from rusty pulleys - I'm assuming if that is the case, it's because the belt is slipping and when it slips over those rough spots, it shears off a fine dust... I've already sanded and cleaned my pulleys up. They are nowhere near perfect but they aren't super rough either. If that's what is happening, makes me think I should just run with it. Thanks for replying if you're still on the site!
