Wishin4a416 2,190 #1 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) The B-17 is in town today for its display and rides. I seen him come in yesterday and he has been making quite a few trips today. I went over early this morning to see it as I always do.I only live a 1/2 mile from the airstrip. My Uncle flew Bombers in WWII across the channel but most of his runs were in the Liberator but he was qualified in all of them. wallfish 16,924 #2 Posted September 11, 2016 That would be awesome to go for a flight in that thing! What do they charge for something like that?

wallfish 16,924 #4 Posted September 11, 2016 Quite expensive but certainly worth a one time experience to do it. We flew the expensive helicopter ride around and over Niagra Falls and it was definitely worth the experience. First time ever in a helicopter. They should charge more and allow people to shoot the guns! Even if they're just blanks. How cool would that be?
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,278 #5 Posted September 11, 2016 Great pictures , sometimes they will fly in a couple of the WW II planes for static show and rides at a local county airport . Last year they were offering rides in a P-51 for something like $1200.00 for a 1/2 hour. The bombers were something like $450.00 for a 1/2 hour. Just hearing those prop.jobs flying over the house makes me want to salute.
DougC 2,641 #6 Posted September 11, 2016 My father was in the army air force in WW2 and I remember growing up always being surrounded by his friends and their families who were all former pilots and the barbecues and the reminiscing that went on about the good and bad times they all shared together fighting to keep America free. Thanks for the pictures Jack! Very impressive flying fortress!
WHX?? 48,586 #7 Posted September 11, 2016 Yes thanks for the pictures Jack. We live fairly close to Oshkosh WI and when the EAA has their big show there we see all kinds of neat stuff like that.
