Sparky-(Admin) 23,130 #2 Posted December 29, 2008 Hmmm....anyone else notice how the website is all Green and Yeller . Looks like no fun whatsoever to me. I love this quote from the Ad.... "MANPLOW features the EZ Glide Edge, made from High-Density Polyethylene. This material is extremely durable and wear resistant." Aint that just a fancy way of saying PLASTIC! Mike....... Jim_M 179 #4 Posted December 29, 2008 I would like to see them re shoot that video but instead of the 16" of nice fluffy snow, I would like to see them clear 6" of sloppy wet Indiana/Michigan/Ohio style snow. :hide:

jerrell 1 #6 Posted December 29, 2008 :hide: Now that thing would work a lot better if you took a rope and tied it to a horse and had the wife work the handles, while you sat in the seat and shouted encouragements.. :D
Duff 206 #7 Posted December 29, 2008 MANPLOW....yeah, right! This is reinventing the wheel if I ever saw it! Back when I was a kid (50 years ago, mind you) we had a similar device except the "moldboard" was actually parallel to the ground and ran on a pair of shallow runners. The handle was about the same as what this "manplow" thing has on it. Three of the sides were boxed with about 3" rails, and the front lip was slightly beveled downward to help guide the snow up onto the platform. Human-powered predecessor to a bucket loader sort-of. The whole thing was made of wood, except the leading edge and the bottoms of the runners were usually clad in metal for extra wear. You'd run this thing into the snow until you got a pretty good load on board, then back up, push it off to one side, tip it up and dump it. For the life of me I can't remember what we called these things, but everyone in the neighborhood had one back in the day, and nowadays they fetch a pretty fair dollar at an antiques shop. They actually made them in kids sizes, too, so the youngsters could help out with snow removal. My Mom may still have one somewhere in her barn. If so I'll take a pic and post it. Anyway, a bit of history.......and as we go ever more "green" [environmentally, not tractors! ] maybe they'll stage a comeback! Duff :D

LOL just teasing I'm suprised that some feminist has not bitched about the name, "Manplow" yet as being sexist. My last comment on this as I already have said too much is, the only reason it works so well right now is, the guy puching is knows once the video advert is done, he's going to fire up his Toro 11/32 snow thrower and finish the job the right way. If he did it the real right way, he'd be saddeling up on a 416 with a 42in. snow chucker. Jack

Right on, Brother, right on! :horseplay: Duff PS - Nope, the wheel hadn't come along yet, which is why we used the wooden thing on runners....to clear snow out from in front of the cave! :D
