BMW1 42 #1 Posted August 7, 2016 I have a 1975 D180, it runs, but does not drive. I created a recent post regarding that issue. The other problem is that it leaks oil from the hydrostatic pump. About 1/4 cup per week. It looks like the oil is coming from the bottom of the pump where the oil lines are attached. The piece that has the two regular hex bolts and two hex key bolts. I checked the bolts and they are tight. What are people's opinions on what could be causing this? Thank You.
pfrederi 18,644 #2 Posted August 7, 2016 There ar 4 o rings and 2 backer rings between the manifold and the pump. (The 4 bolts hold the manifold to the pump.) Their deterioration or incorrect installation could be the cause of your leak. Being the lowest point the fluid could be running down from leaks caused by worn seals on the input shaft of the motion control shaft up on the pump itself.
