powderfinger 24 #4 Posted July 7, 2016 I pulled the manual on here. all it states is use 40 SAE in the transmission. i'm confused. in current lingo/specs, what does this translate to?
Racinbob 11,947 #5 Posted July 7, 2016 40w was recommended in the transmissions for a few years. They started suggesting it in order to minimize a shift rail issue that could cause it to lock in two gears. See service bulletin #55. Then they upgraded the rails but it took a couple of years for them to remember that the recommended oil be changed in the manuals. I've always used 80w90
Mike'sHorseBarn 3,249 #6 Posted July 7, 2016 I always use SAE 30 in my engines and 90 wt oil in the transmission. Never have any issues with it.
stevasaurus 23,281 #7 Posted July 7, 2016 @Racinbob...didn't we do a thread showing pictures of those shift forks so as to stop the confusion??
