Kitten came to the door

Recommended Posts

Teddy da Bear

A little kitten/cat came to the back door in this sub zero weather.

He tried to make friends with my dogs, but all they want to have is

him for lunch!

I am not a cat person....and he CANNOT stay. I did endless internet

searches for a cat rescue. Could find none that were not "breed specific"

(dumb). I tried all the neighbors to see if they lost a cat or wanted a cat.

Nothing......

The kitten would not leave and ended up almost freezing to death.

I put the kitten in a cage inside for his protection. he is a dedicated

house cat and does not want to go outside. (can't blame him).

I will not take any animal to the humane society.....don't even ask.

Pet Refuge has a 4 month wait for "taking in" any more animals....

sheeeesh..

Anyone have an idea or know of a rescue or someone that wants

a cute blonde tiger-stripe kitten/cat?

I can deliver it to northern indiana and southern Michigan.

Thanks in advance.

I don't play well with people, but I'm O.k. with pets. If you can get it here, I'll give the cat a good home.

:hide: TDB, i know how you feel, i live 5 miles from the city and people from town are constantly bringing their unwanted cats, and dogs out here and dropping them off,,, i have two barn cats and two house cats , the barn cats my son feeds everday and we have gone out there to find 3 or 4 cats or maybe a couple of puppies eating their food, i once had 6 cats in the barn , couldn't afford that. i called the city, county and state animal control, can't do anything unless i see them drop them off or be able to prove they did....

:D I hate to say this but i had to shoot about 15 cats and about 4 dogs this year, the dogs was the worse. they got to chaseing my goats.. i guess this will continue because people won't spade or neuter their animals and just let them breed out of control. nobody will help, and i am not the only one that has had to do this, several of my neighbors has had to do the same thing.. it seems heartless to kill a animal like that but if people would see how starved and sick they look. it really saddens me to shoot them but what can you do.. just let them starve..that seems more heartless than shooting them

:hide: I hate to say this, but if the right person(s) sees what you have just typed here, you'll have an expensive stay in the graybar hotel.

I'm not an animal rights activist by any means, but I do know when to keep my mouth shut. :D

There isn't much more that could have been done since most humane society and animal rescues are full. Sounds like you might have a place to take him now though. Good work. :hide:

I couldnt shoot one but each state has varying laws on it. At one time Florida law was that any cat more than a specified distance from a home was considered feral and could be shot. :D

Took a couple strays into the house with the old cat I already had. The old black and white is around 19 years old now and doesn't get far from the stove.

Used this picture on the Christmas cards.

:hide: TT i didn't do this without forthought, after calling all the state, county, and city animal shelters, and control officers and county sheriffs office i was politely told to shoot them as they had no place or space or people to deal with them. they are a nusance and in arkansas you can shoot nusance animals, especially if they are sick/starved or causing a nusance or damage to property or persons, they would have to arrest just about every farmer/rancher/country homeowner in arkansas. the act was not done in fun but to end the suffering of the starved/sick animal i guess i could have caught them and took them back to town and dumped them back off and let them starve to death in town, but the state they was in i hated/wouldn't touch them. starving/sick animals will fight and i have been awakened in the middle of the night and there would be two or three cats/dogs fighting. not going to try to seperate a starving/sick animal from their food. now that is dangerous.

Nick that is a pretty picture, got two old males both of them i picked up several years ago. one (Sniffie) i picked up out of the center the highway during a pouring rain. had him fixed and now he is my cat, won't mess with the other family members.

Point of clarification: I didn't say the act was right or wrong - I just would be cautious where you "advertise". You never know who's going to read this stuff on here.

(just because most people don't or won't use the search feature at RedSquare doesn't mean that a Google search for "shooting cats" won't lead some kind of a radical extremist straight to your post. :hide: )

I call it "The 11th Commandment" - Cover thy own a$$ first! :D

Back to the original topic, you should play to a womans sympathy. It worked for my wife, anyway. She was at a yard sale with a friend, and the people had kittens to give away. My wife asked what he was going to do it if they didn't get rid of all of them, and he said "put em in a sack and bash em against a tree". Needless to say, both my wife and her friend came home with kittens... he knew what he was doing...

I did what Hodge suggested.

I took "freddy the freeloader" down to the largest animal hospital.

This little guy had his "A game" on! He strutted up and down the

counter and snuggled with every woman worker there. Wasn't long

before he had a girl on the hook. well....also a gay guy....

I agreed to pay for neutering and vaccinations.....she could not

refuse and now Freedie has a new home!

Whew! glad this happened....another week and I would not

have been able to let him go. He was a character!
