M J 0 #26 Posted December 29, 2008 Isn't he the guy who painted the Last Supper? mr. butch, I thought Leonardo da Vinci painted the last supper I hope you are better at wheel horse identification than you are at artist's and paintings if my husband would have been cooking that day durring the last supper Leanardo would have been to busy eating his BBQ and no painting would have been done! :hide:
KyBlue 655 #27 Posted December 29, 2008 this is mj and bob told me what you guys said about his cookin! well let me tell you all something, when my honey cooks he makes Emeril Lagasse look like a beginner! when I take his bbq into walmart the associates fight over it! they all say its the best bbq they have ever eaten. his friends at the sheriffs dept and the associates at walmart are always trying to get his bbq recipe, so dont judge before you have eaten the best! with meals like he feeds me, why you think I let him buy all those tractors? you all would be well advised to let him teach you something about cookin that way you might get more of them. and by the way im eating steaks tonight on the grill again! happy holidays to you all mj Mj - Michigan isnt known for BBQ...take it in someplace like Alabama that is big on BBQ and see waht happens - Im sure its a good flavor, but its not the same as using a wood fired Pit.. duke, Duke, Duke... using a electric cheapie box to burn wood chips is NOT bbq... Well it is, but its not 'real' bbq. You want real bbq...well ill give ya some of that at the Show in june.. Oh and I dont have to cut my ribs in half to get them to fit into my 'lil pit' Two Turkeys and a Pork Loin Then we have the Big Daddy Smoker...

KyBlue 655 #30 Posted December 29, 2008 Gotta have something to get that Real Wood burning...It doesnt just happen on its own ya know!! I would Never cook with propane, or electric. While yes it is faster (to turn it on and hit the starter button) and the heat is more even (no temp variations) there is also no flavor comparison between gas or electric and Wood Or Charcoal Fired.. here's a couple more teaser shots for ya Smoked Nearly To the bone Pulled Pork more your thing? Whole Boston Butt How about a Turkey (sorry for the bad Photo) and last...

Grapevines? Wouldn't it just be easier to pour wine on your meat while you're grilling it? :hide:
Curmudgeon 28 #44 Posted January 1, 2009 I think the fact that Duke buys his spices at a LUMBER YARD says it all!!!!! :omg:
KyBlue 655 #45 Posted January 1, 2009 Grapevines? Wouldn't it just be easier to pour wine on your meat while you're grilling it? Butch - Dukes talking about bbq, using the smoke from the vines to flavor the meat. Not really the same thing. Duke - No wineries around here to get grapevines from. But I think your right they might go too quick. I have read of people using them on some of the different bbq forums i frequent.

linen beige 15 #47 Posted January 2, 2009 Duke - No wineries around here to get grapevines from. Talon Winery, 7086 Tates creek rd., Lexington, Ky. 859-971-3214. Wildside Vines Winery and Vineyard, 5500 Troy Pike, Versailles, Ky. 89-879-3982. Here are a couple within a few miles of you Scott. I don't know about Wildside, but Talon is a good sized operation. They have an "event barn" set back off the road a good ways they rent out for weddings, etc. You might drum up some BBQ business with them. There is another one close to I-64 just west of Frankfort, but I can't recall the name.
HorseFixer 2,013 #48 Posted January 2, 2009 Scott many times in the fall they take the dead stuff off and prune the Vines I store them in Burlap Bags and let them dry. I have 3 big bags with vines and need them chipped up. I havent tried smoking with them yet but had wondered if you have? I heard its pretty good and gives a sweet smoke. Curmudgeon 28 #50 Posted January 2, 2009 Kentucky has lots of wineries, just depends on which part of the state you're in. I've been to several there myself, as well as in Tennessee. http://www.kentuckywine.com/
