Nick 13 #1 Posted December 19, 2008 I was just watching the video of an articulated 4x4 tractor then looked at the owners other videos and found one demonstrating his chipper. Its not a flail style so it is a bit safer but check out how he puts the wood into the chute. His video of the 4x4 tilling wasnt bad either.
Rollerman 290 #2 Posted December 19, 2008 Nick I have a friend up the road with one of those tractors....a Pasqauli. It's a pretty tuff machine with a Lombardini single cylinder deisel, two 4 speed gear boxes, 3 point & full hydraulics. Maybe someday I can talk him out of it. I'm pretty sure the guy in the vid probably just had a hangnail he wanted gone?
Butch 194 #3 Posted December 19, 2008 I kept waiting for something to happen. I'm pretty paranoid about sticking my hands down the chute. I worry that the chipper might grab a branch fast enough to yank my hands down with it. Plus it has thrown pieces of wood back at me.
Nick 13 #4 Posted December 19, 2008 Stephen, You dont see many of those tractors around. I look for videos of them now and then and they appear to be a popular design overseas. Forgot to mention I saw one of those Lombardini diesels on ebay and might not be so far from you. ebay link Butch, Yea when I used a chipper the fingers and hands stayed way back. Never know when the blade could even let go.
Nick 13 #5 Posted December 19, 2008 Blame Stephen but I started looking for more articulated tractor videos and found this. If Butch wanted to see something happen this is the video. Ouch that had to hurt.
HorseFixer 2,013 #6 Posted December 20, 2008 check out how he puts the wood into the chute. Yikes! I was waiting to see an arm off up to the elbow! :hide:
64s 83 #7 Posted December 20, 2008 I don't mean any disrespect but that guy is a moron. I've done some not so safe things but putting your hands (both of them) next to a spining cutter with no way to stop yourself from falling or being pulled into the blade is down right stupid. If the guy in the video is reading this, please don't take this personal, I'm just concerned for your safety. I have had over 100 stiches to either repair, reattach, or rebuild 8 out of 10 of my fingers - thankfully not all at once - so I'm not talking out of my as*, I've been there. Sorry for the soapbox lecture but it only takes a second for something to go wrong. :hide:
