brid3 0 #1 Posted May 28, 2016 I have a mower deck with 3 blades. My center blade continues to loosen after a few minutes of operation. Does anyone have a solution? New to forum, so not sure how this works. Bear with me
cheesegrader 433 #2 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) The first thing that comes to mind is vibration. Does it spin well? Are the bearings bad? Is everything tight, or is there some slop? (up and down as well as side to side) Is the pulley bent? Is the blade balanced? Is it on upside down? (been there, done that) Is the spindle housing fixed solidly to the shell (I've had missing bolts, and cracks through mounting holes)? Pictures? brid3 0 #3 Posted May 28, 2016 Thanks, I will pull the deck out tomorrow (again) and look a little closer. Appreciate the suggestions.
KC9KAS 4,741 #4 Posted May 28, 2016 @brid3 I just replace a spindle for another fellow a couple of weeks ago, and with the new spindle was a note to be sure and "torque" the center (blade) bolt.....But I don't remember the torque specs....sorry, old age! cleat 4,987 #5 Posted May 29, 2016 Do you have the thin washer above the blade and thick washer below the blade just under the nut ? Nut should spin on freely, I also put a little never seize on the threads. Should self tighten in operation if everything is correct.
