C-145 A drive belt size?

I blew a drive belt on my 1983 C-145 hydro and the belt measured 82". I looked up the correct belt and have seen many different sizes called out.

 

Is 5/8" x 81" correct?

Is 5/8" x 81.5" correct?

or

Is 5/8" x 82" correct?

 

I also saw 98" using the same wheelhorse number????

 

Any help would be appreciated,

I see what you mean about different sizes, especially through the years.  After looking at Gerry's notes though, plus I found one chart that went along with Gerry's notes also...1983, C-145 auto, 01-14KE04.  I would try the #108501 belt...5/8" x 81.50.

I have a 1983 C-145 auto, 01-14KE04 and I am running a 5/8" x 81" belt and it seems to work just fine.  Hope this helps...

This pertains to the Sundstrand models

The 7478 drive belt is 5/8" x 84.22".

They had a problem at one time with this belt being too short on 1977 and prior models but has since been corrected.

The difference for the Eaton models is the twin cylinder models use a different belt than the single cylinder models but the shared parts lists don't tell us what uses what.

1980 was the year they used both Eaton and Sundstrand hydros.

    I went with a 108501 WH belt. I believe the one manual I found on RS said they were 81.5 inches.

 While you are changing the thing, check your idler pulley shaft where it goes through the frame of the tractor close to the pulley.. Adding oil at the bushings helps prevent wear. Mine wore through at the bushing[if there ever was one], and i had to rebuild it.  When the bushing area gets worn, the transmission drive belt vibrates causing it to wear. Instead of just rotating on an axis, the idler pulley looked like a paint shaker.

 

 The idler pulley on my 520 operates with a spring. i have a 416-8 that operates with a piston shock absorber and that would be a better system to cut the vibration.
