18 Auto PTO Clutch parts

Recommended Posts

Factory Dog

Good evening fellows!  I worked on the pto clutch for the 18 Auto today and found that I need a new pad and a bearing.  Does anyone know if these items can still be acquired through a dealer, or aftermarket place.  The bearing is a FAFNIR 9110PP.  Thanks!

Thanks!!!  I will stop in and visit my Toro dealer for the facing this Saturday.  I think I will check with our local Fastenal dealer on the bearing, I have had pretty good luck with these guys on their pricing.  The gentleman who worked on this clutch last lost a couple pieces, added a bunch of extra spacers, had the springs turned wrong, beat up some of the major components, and ran a punch into the rear bearing in several places.  What a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I sat down today and calculated everything I have spent on my garage ornament over the last couple of years...............oh.............wow!!!  But she is worth it!  Thanks again for your help!

There was a thread a while back on this subject.  One of the members bought some friction material, cut it to fit and used adhesive to attach it.

I've looked and looked for this post and I can't find hide nor hair of it. :bitch:

I stopped in at the Toro dealer this morning and ordered the clutch facing, thanks again for your help.  I ordered the bearing through my local Fastenal Dealer for $9.00.  The manufacture name given for the bearing was Bearings Limited.  The clerk said that this was the Fastenal brand name, and that someone else actually manufactures the bearing.  I figured I will not be out much if it does turn out to be junk.  Has anyone had any experience with bearings under this name?  I was also wondering if anyone knows what type of surface finish I should put on the pulley clutch surfaces, polished vs. more of a brushed finish?

I would go with a brushed finish.

Bearing Limited seem to be a supplier that may have bearings made for them   Can't comment on quality but never heard anything bad.  They distribute through Fastnal but also many other outfits.

I think this is probably the thread to which you are referring.

Excellent rebuild and great step by step instructions.

My Fastenal supplier did not have one at their regional distribution center, but he was able to locate one from another region and have it shipped in.  Unfortunately the shipping cost almost as much as the nine dollar bearing.  The bearing was made in China, which I was not surprised.  It looks ok, but time will tell the true story.  I normally try to get my parts through a local supplier if at all possible, because I really don't like ordering over the internet.  Thanks for finding that thread for me, I need to check it out because the clutch brake was just hanging loose from the engagement bar and I am not at all sure how it is supposed to work.  I cleaned up all my parts this afternoon and repainted all the surfaces that had paint to start with.  My clutch material is in, but it will be Saturday before I can get to town and pick it up.  Then I will have to figure out how to attach them.  Thanks again for everyone's input!
