My 856

Recommended Posts

While I was waiting on the paint on the mower deck to dry for my "mutt" 854, I thought I put the new battery in my 856.  This is the tractor that started my love for the red tractors.  I grew up on this one, and my dad passed it on to me when I got married almost 13 years ago.    So new battery and clean the carb and she was ready to ride!

Looks like you need some weight on the front end before you break a spindle or axle!

No weight needed!  Haven't broken an axle or spindle in the last 30 years doing the occasional wheelie.  Never done a back flip either.... Yet!

My guess, he came off the trailer too fast.    Oh my, that is such a shame.

That's why I never back a tractor down a ramp!

I had a ramp break and dumped me and the riding mower over backwards.

From then on I back up the ramp and drive forward off.

There's a whole story about the back-flipping horse explaining how it happened.

Now almost two years later, I'm convinced that flip ultimately resulted in this

Man did this thread take a right turn. Sorry for hijacking.

When it's real bad, they use hardened bolts and fiber lock nuts.  :)
