No but really I think the venting would out way the oem looks and authenticity of the tractor. It's not a one of a kind vehicle never to be seen again I guess. So I'm going to try and get a matrix kind of hole pattern found and cut it into the guard. Good info thanks !!!!!!!! Scott. No matter what type of mod you do to the belt guard, make sure you remove any burrs or obstructions that may rub and damage the drive belt. 14 hours ago, WVHillbilly520H said: One more tip to help with the longevity of the Onan, impressed upon me by a 30+ years small engine tech...throttle down and idle for 30-60 seconds before shutting it off after running it hard, also helps with the backfire at shut down that some (and I myself) have experienced,Jeff. Very good advice from Jeff, and I will add one more. Although the experts and manuals recommend running your engines at WOT when operating rotating equipment i.e. snow blowers, tillers and, mowers, I have found most engines , especially in 70-200 HP 2 stroke outboards I have owned, have two sweet spot RPMs where they vibrate less and sound better. In the P220 Onan in my 520 this is sweet spot is 3250 RPM, so this is where I operate when I am operating the snow blower. I have actually installed a smaller drive pulley on the snow blower so the blower is at its design RPM when the Onan is at 3250.

I never really paid any attention to notice if i habe one,, you mean a seal attached to the shroud ? I will have to look and see if i have one,, never noticed ..can someone post a pic of this oil shrowd seal for me ,, and i dont operate at WOT either i run it at 3,000 RPM's max,,, runs everything perfect,, i dont use a blower tho,, so that helps with the heat also.. All good ideas and it definatly doesnt hirt to vent either ,, its nice to know tho that if a person really didnt want to he doesnt habe to that proper maintanence will suffice.. WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #28 Posted April 6, 2016 Yes there is "supposed" to be a rubber gasket that goes over the oil filter after its installed to seal it at/around the blower housing it has a cut out for the reinforced portion directly under the oil filter (sorry I can't post a picture till tomorrow) but sometimes it gets "lost" during oil changes and/or it deteriorates over time but either way yes it should be installed,Jeff. DougC 2,643 #31 Posted April 6, 2016 I have never run my 520H's at WOT. 3,000 to 3,500 RPM seems to be perfect for everything I need to do in my world.
