K181 throttle cable mounting

I got an 867 this week. The previous owner had the throttle cable hooked directly to the carburetor, I know this can't be right. I read the Kohler manual and hooked the cable up to the speed control disc on the governor, but I don't seem to have very much cable travel the way I have it hooked up. Would someone be kind enough to post a picture of how the throttle cable should be connected? Thanks

Those small discs don't really allow a bunch of cable travel. Not much need for it anyway since the engine should be running at full throttle when operating the tractor.

How about posting a pic of what you have so we can see what's going with it?

In this pic you can see how the previous owner had the cable running directly to the carburetor. Well kinda,not the best pic. A lot of other bad stuff going on in this pic too.

I moved the cable to this location.The cable only has about 1/4" of travel. Is this correct? My 1076 has about 3/4" of travel, this is why I'm questioning my placement of the cable on this tractor.

No matter where you place the conduit holder, the amount of travel is determined by the rotation of the disc. At one point there was a small arm which was welded to the disc which you could attach the cable to. If it's not there then you can add one to move the wire connection to the disc farther away from the center, which will give you more travel of the throttle. I have tractors like yours with minimal throttle travel but since I run them full throttle or idle and not much in between, it doesn't really bother me.
