jerrell 1 #1 Posted December 10, 2008 :hide: this is not meant to be political , but when are we the citzens of this great country going to stand up and say "Enough" ....corruption in every dept. of our government. I think that once a person gets into power and sees they can do almost anything they want to without any repercussions they go crazy. AND if they are given some form of punishment, it is usually so minor that they could care less,AND they usually write a book about it or sell their story and get even richer. Now that is not funny right there... i have given some thought to this and the only thing that i see that will strike fear into someone thinking of doing something wrong is to take them down. and i mean to the bare bones, usually when a person does coruption they either gain by money or power, take it away, take every cent they have and i mean every cent. i cannot agree withe the bleeding hearts that say you cannot deprive their family of their property , you cannot tell me that the family of a person does not know what or how money or power is coming into that family, and they are just as guilty as the person who commited the crime. put them on the streets, if a person knows for sure that they will hurt their family and every one that depends on him will suffer maybe they will think twice before commiting a crime. i wish every person who reads this take a few seconds and think ..in the past 5 years just how many important or elected people have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar and gotten away with it, you know the people who are caught and sent to jail for a couple of years and when they get out are still millionairs(ms) i recall a conversation i had with my flight instructor, he was from Lebonon,he told me that there was very little theft in his country and few jails, because when a person stole anything, they had their right hand cut off, they cannot eat with their left hand because it is used to clean themselves.they had to have someone feed them, and if put into jail the family had to feed them, the state did not.and all his possions was confiscated i agree this is a little extreme but look at the results , if a person knew the results of his actions was going to get a serious punishment, would they commit the crime. You know that corruption is going to continue until WE THE PEOPLE TELL THE GOVERNMENT WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH AND THEY BETTER CLEAN HOUSE OR WE WILL...
Teddy da Bear 11 #2 Posted December 10, 2008 Wow.....could I tell you some wild stories about our township! But I will refrain....it will just get me all wound up. You need to understand that even a "do gooder" that goes into politics to right the wrongs, eventually gets caught up in wrong doing themselves. While there might be exceptions....it is a pretty safe bet they will. And politicians don't seem to understand the term "morally wrong" even if they don't do anything illegal.......they do things they know are "morally wrong". And those that leave office often "groom" a successor.....someone who acts and thinks as they do. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.......no doubt the saying is true. catman81056 3 #3 Posted December 10, 2008 Jerrell, are you a fellow Illisnoian? If so, you have to look no farther than Chicago. I only hope that the new Pres-elect ( knowing he's from the Chicago political arena) hasn't been tainted by his political stint in that corrupt city. I could go on, but this aint the place :hide:
jerrell 1 #4 Posted December 11, 2008  teddydabear, and catman i really appriciate your comments , i believe in this country we have fought for it , and i know that 98% of the people in this country love it as much as we do.. BUT it's time for all of us to take a stand and demand that morally we have to stand accountabality for our actions.l if i comitted a crime i expect to be held in account for my actions, i believe in this country and the laws of the nation , BUt the citizens of this country have become compacement to injustices because it does not involve thm....we have to take a stand and say enougn is enough.. the people have to take back the power of politicans, WE ARE THE ARE THE POWER< it is time that we get off our arses and start holding those arseholds accountable
jerrell 1 #5 Posted December 11, 2008 i am getting really confused as what US ordinary citizens ought to do ...how do we cope or counter the greed. i know this sounds kind of funny but it's got tp stop somewhere, an WHO IS GONNA STOP IT IF NOT US,,,, US, two meanings, this is a responsibility of everone who belived in the government for the people and by the people, everthing i have ever belived in, .....this country is based on honesty, truthfulness, and courage and it's time WE the citizens take it back.\\ that's all i have to say about that......... no catman i was born and raised in AR not from IL. my heritage is from IN. and ND, ogalla souix , i really feel for the people of Il , now , just like we (AR) had to feel for the embarassement cause by the former governor of AR, at least he got screwed insteat of screwing the whole nation. I just want to , no , wished and pray ,,,that we, as a people who believe in justice and honorability, could DEMAND that all people who comit a crime is held accountable... What is next??? do you realize that if all the allegations in the news today are true we could become a nation governed by not a president but a "speake of the house" now that would be a first.... we all should say a prayer for our nation tonight enought of my ranting and complaining , i just hope our leaders , has the morals to lead this country forward..... Coadster32 793 #6 Posted December 11, 2008 BUT it's time for all of us to take a stand If we can't fix it ourselves, perhaps we can use the force. (Get it, Darth Vader) :imstupid: Sorry :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #7 Posted December 11, 2008 Jerrel... The accountablility is happening right now. The country is in recession and is continuing the downward spiral. Billions of greedy dollars have been lost in the stock market. Unfortunately our government thought taxing us further is the way that best suits their dilema. The BIG GUYS don't seem to suffer as much as those on the bottom. I have a feeling that the method of "bailout" and "taxation" of the poor will come back to bite them again down the road. Duff 206 #8 Posted December 11, 2008 OK, guys...here's a very sobering thought that is spot-on to the topic "Where and when will it stop?" In the Bible, read the Book of Revelations. I'm by no means a Bible-thumper, but I do have a strong and abiding faith, and what I'm seeing throughout society, indeed the world, really has me concerned. Sorry if I've spoiled anyone's day........ Duff :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #9 Posted December 11, 2008 You did not offend me... But we are sure wearing thin the rules of the site. And I say that in the highest regard for all that participate in this kind of discussion. I think we did a great job of discussing it without going overboard. Just hope we can have mild discussions like this in the future. Sometimes you just need to vent.....lol
Curmudgeon 28 #10 Posted December 11, 2008 Yeah, the country is in recession, more like a depression, which I've predicted will happen for some time. (Where is that pat yourself on the back smiley?) Billions of dollars are being lost by the rich guys. Course, our good government has decided it best for this country to tax the hell out of the poor and middle class to give free handouts to the people who made the decisions that caused this depression. So please tell me, just where is the justice??? Sounds more like a reward to me. When was the last time any elected "official" took a pay cut, or lost benefits?
