pfrederi 17,173 #2 Posted March 5, 2016 I would stick with whatever is currently in her. Cherry red looking is ATF (There is a universal ATF for Dexron 3 and prior and older Mercon versions). Tan color is Motor Oil Use 10w-30 or 10w-40. If you try to change you have to repeatedly flush the system which costs money and there is the disposal issue. 953 nut 52,008 #3 Posted March 5, 2016 If the present fluid is red then it is automatic transmission fluid and you can replace it with Dextron II ATF, if it is amber it will be 10-W-30.
