Theroundhousernr 590 #28 Posted February 1, 2016 By the way I think I know which was the last one to fall out through mechanics forensics. The bottom hole, the bolt went right in so must have been the first one to go. The top one I had to clean the threads up with a tap before it would even think about going in. That poor guy must have been holding on by a thread or two and then it ripped out from being the only bolt left on that side. All this means absolutley nothing but maybe worth noting. Dont mean to scare everyone into crawling under there tractor in winter but I know I will be checking all mine and putting blue loctite in spring!
cleat 7,259 #29 Posted February 1, 2016 Funny, I was just loking at the manuals for the older 520's and the H is supposed to use a 3/4" long bolt but the HC uses a 1-1/4" bolt. The HC must have a thicker mount on the frame I guess. No mention of the rare 7/8" bolt however. Cleat
Pullstart 66,868 #30 Posted February 1, 2016 Maybe we need to switch to studs like all the diesel truck guys do on their cylinder heads? The torque output of a is serious business!
Retired Wrencher 5,792 #31 Posted February 1, 2016 Man 4 little bolts cause all this? Just goes to show check twice Torque once. I had a 14hp Auto one time some how the bolt cavity busted into the housing and I could not get it to stop leaking I tried everything to stop leaking. I finally cleaned the area with about 50 Q tips till it was clean. then sealed it. I think some one used a long bolt and it busted thru Gary B....

stevasaurus 23,281 #33 Posted February 1, 2016 Kind of...has to do with being safe. This was on the news last week. Since 2004 there has been 8 cases where dogs have shot their owners. Then they checked to see if any cats have done that. 1 cat has shot it's owner...knocked a loaded gun off the counter. I don't know if they checked if any monkeys have done that.

squonk 43,843 #35 Posted February 1, 2016 Love Mc Master. Cal at 3:00 and have it next day UPS. I don't know how they do it. Other places say "10 business days."
Pullstart 66,868 #36 Posted February 1, 2016 Other places sit on the order for 9.5 days, that's all. I used to work in customer service / order fulfillment and people were always amazed that we had things in stock and could actually push orders through same day. I guess that's unheard of in the plumbing and heating industry!

Turns out, he didn't have occasion to return to this town for several years. When he stopped in and inquired about his shoes, The old shoemaker, after looking through his records, said, you are lucky, they are almost finished. You can pick them up tomorrow.
953 nut 60,098 #38 Posted February 1, 2016 Many moons ago the business I was managing had an Ingersoll-Rand air compressor that failed, rented a replacement compressor and we were back in operation, called the parts department to order the parts and paid extra for next day shipping. Next day a package arrived with only a few of the needed parts; the rest was on back order! Called them and asked why they hadn't told me they didn't have the parts when I placed the order; answer, "I only receive the orders, another department fills them". Turned out my friendly NAPA store had everything needed in stock, only way I found out was I was venting when I went in there on the way home.

Not to but I found a bolt laying in the garage two weeks ago or so. Once I replaced the other two hanging on with new bolts , I went to throw them on my scrap bolt pile and went HEY! that looks familiar. Sure enough the bolt I found was one of the missing bolts but never put 2 and 2 together... Oh well. I dont feel as crazy now about overlooking missing bolts last year. So those suckers fell out recently! Oh well , the story has a good ending atleast.

Pullstart 66,868 #41 Posted February 2, 2016 Though I never have found the hub key that I lost down by the road in the front yard and I've never found that rocker broken off the middle intake valve of my 660 Raptor that went a flingin' either!
stevasaurus 23,281 #42 Posted February 2, 2016 I've got a 1/2" drive socket and a roll pin punch that escaped me last week in the garage while working on my new transmission trilogy. I have kind of looked, but it seems they know where to hide. I don't know that we want to know how many wives have killed their "owners" and you would have to qualify the statement to be "really dead" or "mostly dead". I fall into the mostly dead category.
