St. Valentines Day Massacre

I thought I would share a little history with you! :hide: Berrien County Sheriffs Dept. Where I work for the past 18 years Has two Thompson Center Machine Guns in its evidence that dates all the way back to the gangster days of 1929. These two machine guns were used in the St. Valentines Day Massacre. Altho I know the story well, I wont go into details but will give you the links to where you can read about this interesting part of history and how the Sheriffs Dept. Came in possession of this evidence. I have held both of these weapons several times over the years and our Dept. has been on discovery channel and have won awards when they were on display at several events. Clink the links below to learn more. If a certain WH brother from KY was extra nice to me I suppose if he ever got up this way and called me in advance I could get his picture taken with these babies in his hands! As far as that goes, any of you ever wanna pay me a visit this could be arranged! Might even be able to get a shell casing fired from one, "Of course that might require buying our quarter master lunch!" :D

Very cool Duke...but also a very gruesome event in history.

I'll add I have a friend that has a semi-auto version of a Thompson & have had some fire time with it!

They will knock the wood right out of a bowling pin & still leave the plastic shell standing. :hide:

Nice picture and interesting history. We live down by Lima Ohio where the Dillinger gang killed the sheriff while busting him out. I believe somewhere I saw that Dillinger had been treated well and wished they hadn't killed the sheriff. Local link to story

I would LOVE to take ya up on that Duke. Just gotta figger out when.

Come down here! I might could get your pic taken with one of the two revolvers Frank James surrendered to the governor of Mo. It's on display at a famous distillery in my home county a little SW of Lexington. Frank and Jessie had family in that area, and yes, they are in my family tree (So is Abe Lincoln. That's right, the James brothers and Abe were related.)

Nick, My home county also hosted Dillinger for a short time in the early '30s. The county still has an outstanding warrant for his arrest! I think it's the only still active warrant for him. The issuing judge never accepted that the man killed in Chicago by the F.B.I. was in fact Dillinger, so he wouldn't recall the warrant. He is accused of driving a getaway car for a married couple that robbed the Gravel Switch, Ky. bank in the '30s. They were caught and did time, always saying their driver was Dillinger.

Uhmmmm. If'n the last names Bradford or Issac(s) is in yor tree back into the 1700s/1800s then we's kin! These families came into America through Maryland and fanned out into Ky and Oh. Then spread on into surrounding states. They were concentrated in mid Ky. at the time of Lincoln and the James bro.'s births.
